We see (and repair) this a lot. The problem is on the control panel, which we regularly repair nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so.

At our Web site, you can get details of our service, plus we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

The settings on my microwave appear fine. Then I set the time for let's say 50 seconds and it turns off in 5 - 9 seconds. Then what you see is the correct time --- no other message.

If this is an inverter oven, it could mean that there is a problem on the inverter board. Testing these boards is fairly simple. You just need to find a service manual for that model.

Panasonic inverter 900w microwave fault code h97

H95, H97, H98 or H99 mean that there's a problem with your inverter, magnetron, or digital programming circuit.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Discussion on the appearance, aesthetics, form and colur

Hello dutch.

This is an excellent microwave, over the range, white only. Here is a link to all of the features, and even the owner manual http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Home-Appliances/Microwave-Ovens/Over-the-Range-Microwaves/Technical-Specification/model.NN-S254WF.T#ts
Microwave Type: Over-the-Range Cooking Power: 1200 Watts Capacity: 2 cu. ft. Convection Cook: Without Convection Cook Dimensions Exterior Depth: 15 in. Exterior Height: 9.5 in. Exterior Width: 23.25 in. Miscellaneous Product ID: 22541798 More Information Details: Over the Range Microwave with Panasonic Inverter Technology provides true multiple power levels. When the user asks for 60% power, the oven delivers a true 60% power, not a pulsed delivery of 100% power 60% of the time. This method is called linear power delivery

Mi panasonic prestige inverter microwave will not

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/safety.txt http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/disassembly.txt http://031d26d.namesecurehost.com/mwd/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

It may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Microwave inverter technology - better now? I am considering one of Panasonic's new 2009/10 Prestige units. Panasonic's explanation of the benefits of inverter technology to produce more even heating is...

An inverter-based unit is more efficient and uses less power than a design based on a high voltage transformer.

But with increased complexity / higher component count comes a statistically higher chance of failure, especially in inverter circuit boards that are machine soldered, where sometimes not enough solder gets on parts that are large, run hot, and/or run with high currents. This can lead ot bad connections and blown components.

As a longtime technician, I have always liked Panasonics very much, but I have never been a huge fan of inverter-based designs due to those factors. But again, as a technician I repair my own stuff, so it's not a big deal. And everything is slowly moving that way anyway.

I would not at all discourage you from buying an inverter-based Panasonic, but this is one of those rare times when I would advise you buy an extended warranty with it.

Once it's out of warranty, if it fails, call around and look for a repair shop that has a technician who does "component-level repairs" on circuit boards, instead of just changing boards. That will save you on repair bills.

It's often best to find a TV shop that also does microwaves, instead of an "appliance service center" which does not work on electronics.

You can find authorized Panasonic servicers here. Bookmark that for later.

Turns off after 3 sec

Usually this indicates failure of the magnetron and/or the inverter. Neither is easy to test without specialised HV equipment. Often the cause is operating the oven without anything in it. If this has happened, it will generally be failure of the magnetron.

Replacement of the magnetron is relatively easy (about 15 minutes) and the inverter a little longer but if you do not have the knowledge/skills please do not do it - there are very dangerous (deadly) voltages associated with magnetrons even after they have been switched off.

Cost of magnetrons ranges upwards from USD25 to USD100 (from Panasonic spare parts) and inverters range upwards from USD125. The cost of parts is often the reason microwave ovens are not repaired.

Scrape or fix? Panasonic inverter genius sensor 1250 watt

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter but it may be a bad magnetron.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer. You can find one here:
