  • model-t-car Apr 05, 2008

Do not have yellow/red cable. Have 1-yellow,1-white, 1-red, connected into video-2. Dvd on remote is to channel3. Get unusable signal message on tv.

I would suggest to select video 2 on your TV, if you have the DVD player connected to video 2 on the TV's back panel.
Make sure those cables functional as well.

The problem is not the cable connection but the "channel" selection on the set. If the DVD is connected to the Video-2 input on the set, you must choose the video in option for the set. There are a couple of possibilities on how to do this:
1) Use the TV/Video button on either the set or remote.
2) Use Channel up to go beyond the last true channel to get to the video or Aux channel.

The other alternative to connect a DVD is to use an RF converter. This will take the Red/White/Yel combination and convert to an RF connection that will allow you to see the DVD on either channel 3 or 4.

I hope this help to clear things up.

Use scart if you can

Use scart connector, your tv should have one. By using scart your tv will display dvd automatically each time you press play on dvd. Using the av cables you have more troubles, as you need to select explicitly the input/output from dvd and tv.

You need to use the scart cable, the yellow red cable is used mainly to connect other devices. Just do it , and it will work.

Yes tey are white, red and yellow (yellow is video, rest is audio) they are composite audio video cables also called rca cables or s-video/audio cables, there is not much to say about connecting the tv using composite cables.
To use them (the yellow plug is video, the red and white plugs, audio): Plug in composite cables to the outputs on the back of your TV source and then plug in the composite cables to the RCA inputs of the DVD Recorder. Then connect the RCA outputs from the DVD Recorder to RCA inputs on the TV.
If they do not work either you are doing the connection wrong, or is a faulty cable or your tv does not support the signal in output from dvd. In this case, unless you have a particular need for using RCA cables, I will suggest using a SCART, that usually always work.

Front panel blocked or locked

RCA Entertainment Series 32" Plus Gold, GEMSTAR, xbox ready has been in the shop twice so far. Transformer replaced and 6 months later the picture suddenly had horizontal white lines that gradually spaced apart more from top to bottom and it had a gray hue and fuzzy, but I still watched it for 3 months that way. Today I turned it on and about a minute later I heard a loud crackling sound coming from the back and the picture disappeared, screen went black. Is it worth fixing again?
