When I tape from a VHS tape to the DVD, it starts to record, then just stops & sometimes it freezes up & I can't eject the DVD. I have to unplug it & start over. Why does it NOT record? It is in a dry bedroom, no moisture and I have dubbed over 50 VHS tapes before. It just suddenly wouldn't work.

Most commercial tapes have anti-copying feature imbedded in the signal. Often this is a kind of "burp" in the horizontal synch signal. I don't know if they are still available but a few years ago my boss obtained a "horizontal stabilization" box that did the trick for most tapes. We actually used it for legitimate image stabilization when using tapes with older video projectors. It cost (about 7 years ago) around $40.00 and was purchased at a little electronics parts store.

you going to have to open it up and remove the tape manually, either the belt drive is broken or gears are.
you going to have to get your hands dirty. :)

hook the video output from vcr to dvd input at rear, then hook output from dvd to tv input. note; you can not record protected vcr movies you can only record tv shows from sattelite to vcr or dvd recorder. its best to record straight from sattelite to dvd recorder for picture clarity.
