My dell axim X5 allows me to enter my password and then press "enter" or "OK" but then nothing happens. I have tried a "soft" reset about 25 times but the same thing happens over and over. I do not want to "hard" reset as I would then wipe the disk and lose about 5 years worth of data. I would appreciate anybody's help on this.
If I have to sacrifice the machine to save the data then I would be willing to do this - the data is much more valuable and I was thinking of replacing the PDA soon anyway.
That would be very difficult.
In my experiences of trying to get all the data out of a pda when its in a locked state, when trying to access it from the pc the pda decided to shut it self down.
In the end I had to perform a hardreset to get it to work again.
In theory, if you could somehow tap into the ram and copy all its contents into your pc. But this ram might be protected or encypted.
Its very difficult, since your data is stored in RAM witch will empty itself when the power is cut. (battery removed or other shortcircuit)
If you know the password you are typeing is correct and it still wont login, then there is most likely a software problem witch would require a hard reset.
