Try uninstalling it and reinstalling it one more time and see if that fixes your problem, if not let me know and I will help you with this process. thank you

HI,

The first thing is that your computer is not at all protected. You will have to download the program by logging into you account with the user name and the password provided from the link you have given here.Once you are logged in then just download the program then install it.Once you have successfully finished installing it.The pop up message given by the Microsoft Window's will disappear automatically.

Goodluck..

I also want you to got to the control panel first then then click on Security Center and click on virus protection and see the recommendations given by them.It can also be possible that you have installed your antivirus but you have not updated it.So if there is an update problem you can just update your antivirus by selecting an update option in it and your problem will be solved.

    Goodluck again,
Please don't forget to accept the second solution as fixya..

Follow these steps..

First thing go to "control panel" chose "security centre" over there the 3rd option is "virus protection" choose recommendations and check the box which says "i will manage the virus myself..."

Then on the system tray u will see a Mcafee icon, right click that and say update...

Thankyou

That pop up is actually an update for your mcafee you can get rid of the popup by disabling auto upgrade detection or on upgrade center or turn off popup from your browser. by blocking pop-up window. go to preferences of you browser and disable pop-up windows.

Have you scanned your computer for viruses? Try something like McAfee Stingerhttp://www.mcafee.com/us/downloads/free-tools/how-to-use-stinger.aspx which is free and doesn't need to be installed. Also run an anti-virus scan.

How do I set up n account

There is a pin (number) that can be found on the back of your card. You just enter it at the site provided by Mcafee. You can enter it here: http://home.mcafee.com/root/productcard.aspx?pkgid=276&cid=89837&ctst=1

Also, you may wish to download and run Malwarebytes free version if you have a virus already, anti-virus software won't do you much good as it is kind of putting the cart after the horse. Malwarebytes will likely remove it before you install your new software. Always update Malwarebytes first and then run a FULL scan.

Virus Troubles

1, get Real Anti Virus Protection. Norton or McAfee. 2 all is not lost. McAfee offer several solution in what they call Stinger. Norton will scan the computer before it tries to install and will remove your problem files as will McAfee. This is basically a bogus add someone clicked on that allowed it to install and until you get it gone it's going to keep popping those false adds up trying to get you back to the hack site that gave them to you to begin with. Download Stinger from McAfee for free and run it from a floppy or USB drive or Buy Norton and do the install. In fact, you could get the free trial and install that of either of these and they will clean your problem.

I have bought mcafee cd from the store and after i restarted the computer my computer freezes at the windows xp screen. how do i fix this?

Hi
I know this may sound childish but the answer right now is to remove Mcafee. Do this by going into SAFE mode. Press F8 while the computer is rebooting. Once at the SAFE menu select SAFE mode with networking. Once into SAFE mode goto START, Control Panel, Programs and Features. From there uninstall Mcafee. I had you go to the network mode because now you will need to download the Mcafee uninstall tool. This will remove the remaining pieces of Mcafee. Once all this is done go to normal mode and please check to make sure you don't have any other anti virus programs installed - these will definitely mess with Mcafee. If there are no other anti virus programs installed I have to assume it was a virus or malware that interfered with your Mcafee install. Unless you have them already I would suggest you download and then run these programs AVGFREE.exe, MALWAREBYTES.exe and SUPERANTISPYWARE.exe. You can download these from www.download.com. Once these are completed, we know your system is clean, now run the Mcafee install and everything should work fine. Good luck

I guess your operating system has been damaged by viruses. you need to completely format the hard disc and install new operating system and other softwares. Install McAfee 5.7i antivirus software to protect your system from viruses. To get protection from spywares you can also use site advisor softwares.

Operating system on my Acer 3002WLMi seems extremely slow on start up

This article by George Ou is the BEST guide I have seen for de-gunking and speeding up your PC. I have used this process on about 200 computers (I'm an IT tech at a mid-size company).
http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/?p=547

The only place where I depart from George's instructions is that I don't uncheck everything in Autoruns, only the third party software. Keep in mind that if you go too far, all you need to do is boot into safe mode (tap F8 on startup) and re-enable what I just disabled. The first time I did this it took me about 3 hours to get it right, but once you get the hang of it, you can tune-up a PC in 15-30 minutes (amaze your friends!).
If this doesn't take care of all of your problems, install spybot Search and Destroy for Spyware removal
 http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
and AVG Free for virus scan
http://free.grisoft.com/ww.download?prd=afe

NOTE: All apps linked here and in in the George Ou article are Free. AVG will try to get you to purchase their 'suite' but the free anti-virus gets the job done. If you have Norton or McAfee already installed on your computer, and you are paid up, then don't bother replacing it with AVG. If your Norton/McAfee is expired - uninstall it BEFORE you install AVG. Two AV on 1 PC = bad.

Please completley remove the norton security from my computer...trying to run something comcst says you need to do something to rmove it...please do asap ...thank you

Go into Control Panel, then Add/Remove Programs. Wait for the list of all programs to load up.

Go down through the list and look for Norton Internet Security. Remove it. It will take a very long time, sometimes 1/2 hour or more depending on speed of computer. Reboot the computer after it has been removed, especially if/when it asks you to reboot after the process.

After rebooting, go back into Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Look for Symantec or Norton's Live Update, remove that as well. Also remove any other Symantec/Norton Anti-Virus or Internet Security programs as well. Then reboot the computer again.

Your computer should be much, much faster now. So now you need a new Anti-Virus program...

I've found in my experience that Norton and McAfee do more damage to some computers than good, besides the fact that they are severely over-priced. I would NEVER install either Norton (Symantec) or McAfee on anyone's computer. Matter of fact, I just had to remove Norton 2008 from a lady's computer today, an old Dell 2400 because her system was too old and slow to run new Norton.

My suggestions for much better anti-virus would be...

- Kaspersky Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- Trend Micro PC-Cillin Anti-Virus (search for it on Google, etc)

- AVG Free Anti-Virus at http://free.grisoft.com, they also have more elaborate versions with more protection for a cost.

I personally use AVG on my computers, and my family does as well. It's very effective and gets out viruses that even Norton cannot remove.
