Question about Mitsubishi VS-6043 60" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Shadow effect I noticed that if the volume was high the tv sometimes would get a shadow effect like red double picture. We could stomp on the floor and it would clear. Then we had to hit the side of the tv and it would clear but now no picture. cdviii@sbcglobal.net

I think it's called "tubes" for the TV, the projection tubes are messed up, and you probably killed your bulbes. Very expensive to fix, just part out what can be used and get a new TV, or get a 60" tv with a smashed screen, and reuse your screen. People sell those on craigslist.org all the time with broken screens because they do not know how to replace them for only 100-200$

That is very lucky, nice job getting it fixed though. Never a bad idea to fix it if it's under 250, but anything more and you're just better off getting a different used one, or upgrading all together.

We have a Sony KP-43HT20 Projection set that is showing a red or sometimes green shadow or double vision effect can any one help .Should we fix it or buy a new TV

The projection IC's are bad. You can't do this yourself and would probably cost $300 - $400 for a tech to do it. Start shopping.

Picture is multi color, double shadows, curved

This is failure of convergence out ICs in TV. Qualified TV tech will replace convergence out ICs or board.

TV PROBLEMS

If the images are different colors (red, green, blue) then the convergence has diverged. Some TV allow re-convergence through the menu screen, older sets my need to be physically adjusted (aimed) to clear this up. a strong knock to the TV may have cause this.
