My BB 8310 lcd screen won't light up. It does receive messages because the red light blinks and it rings when a phone call comes in but the screen is dark as if it's off.

  • Gexpro Sep 02, 2008

None of the buttons on the phone will work. If I plug it into the car charger it will light up and the tracckball will move the "curser" but if I press the trackball that does not work either. This is the second curve that this has happened to.

I'm having the exact same problem as Gexpro. The BB8310 display works and the trackball allows me to highlight icons, but cannot click on an icon and none of the keys on the keyboard or on the sides operate.

Black screen, flashing red LED light as if I have just received a text, none of the buttons work as soon as I tried to upgrade the OS from 4.2 to 4.5. AT&T & RIM are no help, told me I had to buy a new phone, this one was a gonner. It worked fine up until I tried to update software. I'm **********.

Well, I solved it for myself anyway after spending over 2 hours on the phone with AT&T & RIM and getting told there was nothing I could do and I needed to buy a new phone after less than one year of owning this one!

So, I decided to give it one more try and see if I can load anything despite the screen being blank, the LED light flashing red and none of the keys working. (I just refuse to throw in the towel for good when my instinct is to try one last time!)

So I did some more research & found this site. I followed the directions exactly and LOW & BEHOLD MY DEAD PHONE CAME BACK TO LIFE! Every feature works just like it did prior to uploading the new OS! I even have a video camera now whereas I didn't before upgrading the OS!

Fortunately, I saved a backup copy of my 4.2 OS and was able to pull my contacts out of it for the new OS. I did have to completely start over as far as my settings but big deal! At least I don't have to buy a new one!

Ironically, AT&T text messaged me today (imagine that, even though they told me the phone was dead, they sent me a text!) asking me to take a survey on their customer service... That was probably the ONLY survey I've ever enjoyed taking and I certainly didn't stop short of letting AT&T know their customer service sucks and the people who work there are trained rip-offf artists.

Is it definately fully charged? If not it could be a software or hardware issue, try connecting it your PC not using the cradle, just the mini usb lead and see if it boots up. If not you may want to try and reinstall the os though desktop manager

I tried to reset my bb by removing my battery and putting it back in, but it wont boot up, just flashes a red light. have tried to connect to pc, wont recognize. have tried resetting several times...

Hopefully you have sync'd the BB before this happened.

1) uninstalled DM4.7 (this also fixed the annoying virtual serial port issue)
2) deleted/uninstall the BB4.2 and BB4.5 versions previously installed onto the computer
3) downloaded and installed DM4.5,
4) installed BB4.5
5) removed the vendor.xml file
6) with the phone disconnected, put in the battery for a split second until the solid red LED shows, then connect the mini-usb cable to the phone and at the same time take the battery back out (this seemed to be the only way to make the PC 'detect' the phone)
7) run Application Loader, which detected my BB4.5, and updated the phone's OS/software/apps
8) near the end ,when the app loader says something like "connecting to phone" or something like that, put the battery -back- into the phone
9) this seemed to initiate the installation of the phone's core modules, a 10 minute process or so
10) after that you get the rotating hourglass thing on the phone's screen, and after waiting about 20 minutes or so, VOILA!!

Sounds like the battery is completely drained. Remove and replace battery, and charge for a couple of hours with your AC charger. If it still does not fully charge, you may have a bad battery. Good Luck...

My Blackberry refuses to Start Up

There is an issue with your firmware. You will need to do is:
1. Unplug BB from PC.
2. Launch the "Application Loader" like you were going to install something.
3. While the app loader is attempting to connect to the BB, plug the USB cable into the BB.

My blckberry curve 8310 shut its self off and i can not turn it back on. the LED is blinking red

Try charging it for about ten minutes then turning it back on.

If this does not work, try a battery replacement.

It is something to do with the power though, whether with charging or with the battery.

Do you have a SIM card installed on this phone? If not, try inserting one properly and correctly.

Secondly, how good is your battery? Try charging your battery fully. Also, it should be a good battery with some life left in it.

Finally, if you have a valid and authenticated SIM card installed, and your battery is good and fully charged, the next thing to do is remove the battery, wait for about 60-90 seconds, reinsert battery and unit should boot up fine after about 2-5 minutes. Hope this helps.

BlackBerry 8310 red blinking led indicator (it fell in water)

If your BlackBerry gets covered in water, act fast and rationally, and you may be able to save your device.
2. Pull out the battery.
3. Please your device and battery into a bowl of uncooked rice to absorb any moisture.
4. Please it in a warm, dry place where it can receive direct sunlight.
5. Be patient. It is recommended that you leave it in there for at least 48 hours.
6. After 48 hours, put the battery back in and power on.

Blackberry 8310

This usually means the bb and battery got a little wet or has other issues. Try these solutions in order. They go from easisest to hardest. NOTE: If you have an insurance policy on the bb probably best just to take it in.

1. Remove the back cover. Remove the battery and the SIM card. Wait 30 seconds. Replace SIM, battery and back cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

2. If that doesn't work, allow the bb to remain unplugged but ON for about 24 hours to drain the battery. Remove back cover and battery. Allow battery and opened bb to sit in a dry environment for 24 - 36 hours. Relace battery and cover. Reboot. Plug in the bb and charge fully.

3. If that fails, try another battery (a friends or one from your cellstore) to see if tat's the problem. If so, (a) retry step 2 but allow battery to FULLY drain then dry out again, (b) buy a new battery for $60 retail or (c) buy a new battery on ebay for a lot less.

4. Take in.
