File write error on nintendo DS multigame card

Am completely clueless as to what is wrong and how to fix it so need some step by step advice.....please..

I bought a multigame card overseas for my son's DS lite and it worked fine up until today. File Write error! appears when I try to load any of the games from the card.

I believe it needs to be reformatted but have no idea how I can do this...

Do I need to take the micro card out of the game pak? (how do I even open it up?)

thanks in advance.

We also have to same problem and have been trying all different forums to get an answer. I know we need to somehow get some files off the card but there is no card reader that will fit a DS size card, or a USB cable to transfer files. Well, that is what we have been told by others, maybe someone out there will have the answer. Good luck

I opened up the cartridge and there is no micro SD card inside so memory seems self contained..... so think like o0Jethro0o says we need a DS size card reader which doesn't seem to exist....

Have given up on this for the moment and learnt a lesson about buying games like this overseas!

have now invested in a R4 and micro SD card so at least I can get access to the games in future....

thanks for taking the time to reply and if you have any bright ideas, am open to trying them as it can't be anymore useless than it is right now!

File write error on nintendo DS, appears after i tried copying the game.......please help!!= im clueless as to solving the problem, the console is my young daughters!

This card is not an R4 card as we have one now. It does not have a micro SD card inside it unfortunately. It is made the same as any game card as we have opened it to see if there is a micro SD card inside it. So I guess one day someone will make a card reader that fits this size. Thanks for all your help

There out are DS cartridge size readers but some sellers just sell the FlashCart as a multigame cartridge when you can have the option to do many things with the FlashCart.

Multigame carts are sold alone and are usually integrated memory so you need a reader to access via USB to your PC and format, copy, paste, delete the files inside avoiding the card to get useless because the memory get filled with saved games.

The easy way is not always the best, the sellers put the games in the cart for you, but that way they can keep the reader/writer saving money.

When you buy a flashcart you must find a renowned one like R4, DS ONE, etc. And you can choose from microSD or integrated type with the difference that if you buy an integrated memory cart then you must include the reader/writer if not included.

I can help only knowing at least the name of the cart because all have different issues. But an integrated memory cart only can be accessed with a DS cartridge size reader/writer adapter.

    Good Luck...

Does the card use a micro SD card or is the memory self contained? To remove the card, on some units you need to push in the micro SD and it will unlatch and come out.

Does the DS boot into a menu screen for this card?

I have had experience of the following causing problems,
dogz
fifa o8
I Spy!
Bratz 4
these roms cause the "file write error"
It is simple resolve by the way

First of all, if you don't have a "Games" folder, make one now, as it will be much much easier to diagnose problems. Just make a folder called "Games" in the root directory, and put all of your .nds and .sav files in there. Its not essential, but helpful.
Now, start your DSLinker in USB mode, and look for the file with multiple copies of .sav
Delete all of the duplicated .sav files from the Games directory, and the respective ROM, it's bad.
As far as I know, there is no way to fix it.
Now go into your DSYSTEM directory and delete the LASTSAVE.sdb and restart the DSLinker.
Problem solved.
This is a rom problem and not the cart.

This is hilarious. There's a simple way to re format the cart if you look in the manual or the manufacturer website. You just had to back up the save files and then format the thing. This is why moms shouldn't buy this kind of thing and people who don't have a clue shouldn't answer questions.

I tried to contact the internet and it keep on saying your error code 051099 and i wanted internet

Hi tabia tabz, Nintendo has an excellent walk-through on fixing just that issue. Instead of just re-ryping their information I will post it exactly as they had it because they offer very nice images of exactly what you need to do each step which should help you alot.

Here is what Nintendo states:

Error Code: 051099 Was this information helpful?Unable to use your wireless signal
Likely cause: It appears that the settings entered into the Nintendo DS are not compatible, or the router's broadcast settings should be changed.
How to fix: Try creating a new connection with your system. Nintendo DSi owners trying to play multiplayer games will want to be sure to read the "Trying to play online multiplayer with Nintendo DSi."

  1. Create a new connection: This error can occur if a setting (like your network's name) has changed since you last connected. If it's been awhile since you connected, or if this is your first time connecting, creating a new connection file will often resolve this error code. Click the button below for your system and we'll walk you through the connection step-by-step.

  2. Trying to play online multiplayer with Nintendo DSi
Even if you are able to connect online and use other online features of the Nintendo DSi, if you are attempting to play multiplayer games but are receiving error code 51099 when you try and connect, then your router is likely using a security type - WPA - that is not compatible with Nintendo DS Game Cards.Try this:
If you are sure you are using WPA, click here for more information including alternative connection methods. If you're not sure if you're using WPA, you can find out by going into the connection settings on your Nintendo DSi and doing a search for an access point. Follow these steps:
    1. Turn on your Nintendo DSi and access the System Settings by clicking on the wrench icon.
      system_settings.png
    2. Scroll over to the third page, and select "Internet."
      system_settings3.png
    3. Now choose "Connection Settings."
      connection_settings.png
    4. Click on "None" for "Connection 1."
      connection_1.png
    5. Click on "Search for an Access Point."
      connection_1_search_ap.png
    6. The Nintendo DSi will search for any wireless networks within range. Once it is finished searching, it will display the names of all the wireless networks it finds.Look for your wireless network.
    7. What to do next will depend on the "lock" icon you see next to your network on the Nintendo DSi.
unlocked.png No security - This connection type is compatible with Nintendo DS Game Card online multiplayer.
lock_compatible.png WEP - This connection type is compatible with Nintendo DS Game Card online multiplayer.
lock_wpa.png WPA - This connection type is not compatible with Nintendo DS Game Card online multiplayer. Security will need to be changed to WEP or turned off in order to play online. Click here for more info.

  3. Other suggestions:
    • Make sure your router is set to broadcast in "b" or "mixed" mode. If your wireless router is transmitting in "N" only mode, you will need to switch it to "b/g" or "mixed" mode. For help accessing your router's settings, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). Most routers will have this setting in the "broadcast settings" menu.
    • Check for wireless interference, which can affect the signal strength to the Nintendo DS. To help minimize wireless interference, try the following:
      • Make sure other wireless devices such as cordless phones or wireless speakers are turned off, and that the Nintendo DS is an open area without objects or electronics blocking the signal.
      • Change your router's channel setting to 1 or 11. By default, most routers broadcast on channel 6, which overlaps with other channels and may be weaker. For help doing this, click here and select your router brand and model (if available). The information you need is found in the "Broadcast Channel:" area.
Still stuck? We can help! We have found that simply erasing the old connection file and creating a new connection to your router may help. Click the button below for a step-by-step guide. If at the end you still need help, you'll find contact information to reach our specially-trained representatives. Click the button below for your system and we'll walk you through the connection step-by-step.

My ds lite has: "system date error" how do i fix

Hi there,

Let us investigate in this matter and try to resolve it.

Since the 10th of April, 2010, some users of the Nintendo DS and DSi and the R4i SDHC card have experienced an error that stops the DS card / DSi card from being used. The error contains the message “Loading… System date error! Please check NDS system date” when a user turns on their Nintendo DS, Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL console.
The reason of this error seems to be an incompatibility between the actual system date on the Nintendo DS console and the R4i SDHC card. This is possible of the Nintendo DS was played until it lost all power, or if the memory card within the R4i SDHC was formatted incorrectly. It can also be attributed to the date simply being incorrectly calibrated. In some situations, transferring a .SAV file from another Nintendo DS that has a different system date on it, can also trigger the problem. It currently seems to be that the problem only manifested itself after the 10th of April, 2010. While the team behind the R4i SDHC are working on a fix to be a future part of a software update, consumers are advised to go into their Nintendo DS system settings and set the date back until the R4i SDHC card can continue to function as normal. In some cases, setting the date back up to a month is required to temporarily solve the problem.
google_protectAndRun("ads_core.google_render_ad", google_handleError, google_render_ad); Until a software solution is found, the R4i SDHC team would suggest consumers keep their dates wound back. To hear the latest about what solutions, both temporary and permanent, please visit the blog on http://www.dscardworld.com where solutions will be tested before presented to the public.
Hope that works.

R4 ..Im Clueless!

you need to go to youtube and look up the r4 files required to run r4, you need to choose what system you will use when using the card as you dont simply just drag games in to the card directory you actually need the operating files as well for the card or it will not recognise it. hope this helps, tim

So many problem...what's wrong

Assuming you are using the "Edge" card.

You need to download http://www.edge-ds.cn/downloads/EDGE-OS-1.4.zip
Then unzip the file using 7Zip, of WinZip and
1. Clear your memory card.
2. Put all the files (from the unzipped file) onto your memory card.
3. Check it all works with the DS.
4. Remove memory card, load games.
5. Play.

For software updates and more, see http://www.edge-ds.cn/?lang=en&page=downloads

I did have Error: Data is not align 16k! when i start up my ds.
What I did was..

All the files you need are at www.neoflash.com.
Your need (MK5) v1.45 which is in the download section.

Some of the nds roms do needed unraring before putting on memory card. They should be in .nds format etc.

The files you need are...

DSYSTEM (Entire Folder And Contents
MK5_2Mbit_test_v5.nds
MK5_PassMe.nds
xmenu.dat

When you have these files THEN you can format by...

Please insert both cards in to the DS and power up, tap the screen to continue as you would for any normal game.

You will then come to the menu "USB Mode" and "Menu Mode"
Instead of selecting one please press and hold the "select button" on the DS then tap "start"

Select "Quick Format"
Once complete restart the DS, you will have to tap the screen as above and this time select" USB MODE"

By formatting the menu file will have been deleted from internal Memory and will need replacing with the files. downloaded from neoflash.com
(MK5) v1.45

DSYSTEM (Entire Folder And Contents
MK5_2Mbit_test_v5.nds
MK5_PassMe.nds
xmenu.dat

(Drag and drop these files only)

Now your new system is ready, restart NDS and enjoy

Will fix almost all problems with DS Firecard and applies to both 8 and 16gbit.
