Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Wacom Tablet Computer is a Dell XPS 420 running Windows Vista Home Premium. I have recently installed a dual serial port I/O card and its drivers. Checked driver install..checked out good. The problem is I get no pen/mouse or tablet after installing the Wacom drivers from Wacom, or at any time. I get an error "A supported tablet was not found on the system" when I try to look at the tablet Properties. In addition it seems the Wacom drivers have installed a Tablet PC control (which I do not have) and only uninstalling the Wacom driver gets rid of it.

I have the same problem, with a Graphire 4 and Vista. Anyone know what to do?

  • Johnny213413 Jun 10, 2008

    Same as I.

And I don't know about you, but the tablet doesn't work outside of programs that utilize the tablet, like Photoshop, so I can't use it for other things as simple as browsing the internet.

Installed a Graphire4 on Vista - same problem and my pen is behaving as a mouse (i.e. relative rather than absolute coordinates) which is VERY irritating!

I'm having that problem too...Graphire 3 and vista.

Same problem here. Sometimes the tablet works everywhere, but after a while something happens - Windows Pen & Ink service dies? - and the tablet will only work in Photoshop afterwards. Restarting seems to fix it for a while. Vista Home Premium 32-bit, tried latest drivers (stable & RC) from Wacom - no difference.

I have the same problem on the HP tx2120us

  • lxc2000 Nov 09, 2008

I have the same problem... my cintiq was working fine, then suddenly both the touch screen and the buttons/touch strips stopped responding. It was really badly timed because I was in the middle of an art test.

The display still works. I removed preference files and then I got the "tablet was not found" error. I uninstalled and reinstalled different versions of the driver. Nothing worked. My old Intuous3 tablet still works though, just not the cintiq... Help!

Same thing here on a HP TX2520ea. The touchscreen works but I cannot get into the control panel applet to calibrate it properly so it may as well NOT be working as it is so far off at the minute.
Using Vista Ultimate 64 bit and despite reinstall of the drivers a few times still fails to allow access to the control panel tool

I get the same message on my Graphire4. I can use the tablet, but i can't use the preference settings from Wacom.

I upgraded to Vosta Home Premium and I found no driver or support for my serial tablet. I think it sucks that Wacom won't write a Vista Driver for such an expensive tablet. I will never buy another Wacom product

I have the same problem with Graphire 2 and Vista x64.

  • Anonymous Jan 16, 2009

I can only use my tablet in photoshop like applications after I've installed the software.

  • Anonymous Jan 29, 2009

i have tx2530ea from hp, vista 32bit the latest wacom drivers work fine, replacing the vista ones. however on 64bit vista which i would rather run wacom drivers install fine however when trying to access the wacom configuration software it says no tablet found, i think its due to the wacom drivers not replacing the vista ones as the tablet still works however i need the real drivers to calibrate touch correctly.

Pderozza,

I had a similar problem. My wacom tablet only worked in photoshop. Very annoying. I was able to fix this by doing the following:

  1. Open Control Panel | Administrative Tools | Services
  2. Right click on TabletPC Input Services and pick properties.
  3. In the General tab make sure startup type is Automatic.
  4. Make sure the services is started.
  5. In the Log On tab make sure the radio button is on Local System, and check Allow service to interact with desktop.
I think I broke it in the first place because I was annoyed with the Tablet PC services running in the background, and tried to stop them. I've just learned to live with it.

Vista driver solution for Wacom ArtZ II Graphics Tablet?

Have you actually tried installing the XP driver in Vista? Sometimes that does work, so no harm in trying. Use the compatibility mode in Vista to install XP drivers to increase the chances of succeeding.

Wacom tablet stopped working, blue light on.

Since you are running Windows Vista on your PC this is the driver you should have downloaded.

Serial cables are not hot swappable. The computer and tablet should be turned off before you plug them in.

Im using a serial to usb connector to connect my artZ II tablet to my laptop..

Sorry, I figured it out, it was because the serial to usb adapter i was using needed a driver, and then my computer recognizes it as an extra serial port. So, during installation it needed to be searched for automatically from my serial ports.

Tablet Driver

Try this:

Start>Run
Type: services.msc
Scroll down to TabletService
Right click>Properties>Log On tab
Is service disabled? If so, enable it and I think that will solve your problem.

I had the same problem you described after I disabled this service.

Usb to serial adapter question

Try installing the Wacom USB drivers on the Mac. As I understand it, this adapter is designed to interact with devices that have their own serial drivers installed--such as a PDA, cell phone, camera, etc.--not necessarily with an input device, such as a drawing tablet, game controller, or pointing device. YMMV.

Serial to usb wacom tablet problem

I just got Vista and it killed my Intuos2 w/serial to usb also, but here's a half solution:
Download Wacom driver 4.78-6 http://www.wacom-europe.com/int/downloads/driver/driver.asp?lang=en. Make sure you remove any other Wacom drivers, tablet, and reboot. Install 4.78-6 driver and select serial port when the choice pops up. Plug in your tablet with the serial to usb adapter, wait a few seconds and click retry. Complete the install and reboot.
Your Wacom tracking should work now, but certain things might not work like pressure sensitivity and you'll get annoying error "reinstall driver" pop-ups.

I think you can aslo buy a PCI-serial card for your computer and skip the serial-usb adapter since Vista doesn't support the adapter for Wacom tablets.. but I'm not sure if there's a working Vista serial Wacom driver either.. or ever will be. The age of XP and Legacy support is at an end my friends.
