Satellite a75-s209: error loading os

The OS installation may be corrupt. Remove all USB drives and discs from CD and try again.

You will need to run a repair or possibly re-install Windows (onto itself).

I m lookin for installing dual boot with Vista ultimate n Windows 7, gotta dvd for both, any help??

If you wan to fresh install, here you can do ::
Try following steps.
Restart the PC, Press Delete for some time
It will lead you to BIOS setting
Go to the Boot Priority menu,
select DVD ROM as First Boot and HDD as Second Boot

Now Insert your Operating system CD: Vista Ultimate
Restart the PC and when screen says " Press any key to continue"
hit "enter"
Let the CD load and then select New Installation
Format the drive by pressing L, and then create three partition , 100 GB for Vista Ultimate, 100 GB for Windows 7 and rest for data.
Hit enter and let os Load

After complete OS loading, system will restart and again you will see " Press any key to continue"
DO NOT PRESS ANY KEY.

OS will boot and register it with microsft. create login and then remove OS DVD,

Insert the Windows 7 DVD
restrt the system, Hit enter when it says " enter any key to continue"
select new installation, point to the earlier created partition for windows 7 installation
proceed with same procedure.
after complete installation, when you restart the pc, you will find both the BOOT entries at booting.
do not forget to load device drivers on both the OS.

Enjoy!

USB port not registering

Try with different USB devices on all the USB ports of your Notebook. Check if those devices which is not detecting in the Laptop, working on other systems.

(If one of the three is not working, then its a hardware issue). If all the ports are not working, you can try the following steps.

1:
1. Disconnect the AC Adapter.
2. Remove the Battery.
3. Hold the Power button down for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
4. Reconnect the AC adapter and do NOT connect the battery now.
5. Turn on the Notebook power.

2. Update your BIOS:
a) Open www.hp.com in the search field type your Laptop product number (eg:AB123UA), can be found on the sticker pasted on the bottom of the Laptop.
b) Click on Software & Drivers
c) Select the Operating System (Make sure you are using pre-installed OS only)
Note: Do not install BIOS on retail or changed OS
d) Install BIOS and restart.

3. Re-install USB entries
1. Save and close all programs that are currently running.
2. Click Start, select Shut Down, and choose Restart the computer.
3. Press the F8 function key or the Ctrl key when the HP logo appears. This will display the Windows Startup menu.
4. Select option 3 to load Windows in Safe mode.
5. After Windows loads in Safe mode, Click Start and select Control Panel.
6. Double-click the system icon. If the System icon is not found directly under Control Panel, click the Performance and Maintenance icon and then click the System icon.
7. The System properties Window opens. You can open the System Properties window directly by pressing the Windows key and Pause/Break key simultaneously.
8. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.
9. In the Device Manager Window, double-click the Universal Serial Bus controllers.
10. Right-click the device listed under Universal Serial Bus controller and select Uninstall.
11. Click OK to confirm the removal of the device.
Restarting the notebook will automatically install the drivers.

That's it. If there is no luck, your Laptop required an onsite diagnose. Contact HP or local service center.

If windows Vista OS isnt loading then your Operating System ( OS ) is corrupted. Try running the installation disk and repairing your system. If this fails you will need to do a FULL operating system re-installation.

How to reformat my MSI notebook?

You need to have an valid Operating System installer CD/DVD. This could be a Windows or Linux installer or whatever Operating System that you prefer.

  1. Turn your laptop on.
  2. Open the CD drive and load the CD Installer.
  3. Reset your laptop to manually reboot it. If you loaded the CD fast, this step is no longer required.
  4. The setup program will then load. Follow the onscreen procedure.
  5. At the point of selecting the hard disk drive, choose "Delete Partitions" to completely remove all data.
  6. After deleting partitions, create new partitions for your hard disk. You can choose to divide your hard disk capacity into 2 or more partitions depending on your requirements.
  7. Format the root partition now (Drive C) to continue the installation.

If I restore my factory Settings from eRecovery will it erase my operating system? and will it erase the Linux O/S I have installed on it?

If you do a restore to Factory Settings from eRecovery, all your data and programs would be erased and your system would return to it's original state of what it was when you purchased, Acer eRecovery restores the factory backup (default Acer preload), so if your machine came pre-loaded with any Windows OS, hope you had configured the eRecovery settings before hand and yes you will loose the Linux O/S install

Sounds like your Windows XP installation failed. Run the XP install again making sure to delete the existing partition and then create a new partition. You could also have a bad drive out of the box.
