Lens adapters Lumix DMC-FZ18 Camera came with 2x telephoto lens (52 mm threaded lens). The DMW-LA3 adaptor is for 55 mm threads. Is this the correct adapter for this lens? Thank you

Need to convert a Vivitar 70-150mm telephoto from Canon TX to Nikon FTn mounts

Vivitar made several different 70-150mm lenses. If the lens has a T-mount then you can purchase a Nikon T-mount adapter and replace the Canon one on the lens. If the lens does not have a T-mount then you're out of luck. Nikon cameras have thicker bodies than Canon cameras, and an adapter would have to have negative physical size.

What is T Mount Telephoto Zoom Lens with 2x Teleconverter

The T-mount is a universal thread developed by Tamron which allows various adapters to couple a lens to a wide variety of camera brands. If a lens is listed as having a T-mount, it means that the lens can be coupled to your camera if you have a T-mount adapter for your camera.

A 2X teleconverter (often called a doubler) enables a lens of a specific to be doubled. For example, the lens referenced above actually is a 650-1300 lens but with the 2X teleconverter the focal length can be doubled to a maximum focal length of 2600.

I have an Opteka 600-1200 telephoto lens which I consider to be a decent lens for its very low price. I also have a doubler which came with my camera kit. That means I can increase the focal length of my lens to 2400 but I cannot imagine any reason to do so. At it's full zoom 1200mm focal length, this lens is very difficult to handle and must be used on a tripod with a remote shutter release.

It is extremely time consuming to focus and must be focused very accurately because it has almost no depth of field. At 1200 mm, the slightest breeze or vibration will cause the picture to go fuzzy from movement.

The lens is also large and does not fit conveniently in a camera bag so it rarely goes with me unless I know for sure that I will need it. It is not particularly good for sports action shots because the action will be over before you are ready to shoot the picture. With very bright light (such as the mid-day sun) and pre-planning and pre-focusing you might be able to get some interesting sports action shots. Say you're at an automobile race and you know a car will be coming into view at a certain spot, you can set up for that spot then trip the shutter when the car pops into view.

All that being said, I think this is a good lens to have in my bag without spending $10,000 plus for a really good lens of this size.

I want to add a lens to take better close ups from far away. What would be the product number?

If you want to take close-ups, you want the DMW-LC55 (and the DMW-LA1 adapter).

If you want to take pictures from farther away, you don't need any additional gear. Just get farther away from the subject then take the picture.

I purchased a Vivitar 2.2x lens for my Lumix DMC FZ18 camera & I'm getting a lot of distortion. Suggestions?

It's a cheap(ish) generic screw on lens multiplier and so compatibility with anything it's screwed onto is a matter of pot-luck, especially as the conversion factor is so high.

There is nothing you can do, other than to try alternative brands (preferably not exceeding 1.4x) or to obtain the expensive Panasonic version which is designed to be compatible with your camera. Even the official product will produce some distortion (usually barrel distortion) and most likely a fair bit of chromatic aberration. It's just usually less adverse than with the generic products.

I have a FZ100 with aDMW-LA5 adaptor can the DMW-LW55 be fitted onto this camera using this adaptor?

I have a DMC-FZ100, DMW-LA5 adapter and an Olympus B-300 HQ 1.7x Tele Converter (instead of a DMW-LT55 - but that's another story). I also bought a DMW-LW55, thinking that I could fit it to DMW-LA5. However, looking at the LA5 Instructions, it says "(As of July 2010)The following types of lenses cannot be attached and used. Vignetting etc. may occur when taking pictures in wide)- Wide conversion lens DMW-LW55- ND filter DMW-LND55- MC protector DMW-LMC55"
This is very annoying considering that the LA5 is sold as THE adaptor for DMC-FZ100, DMC-FZ45, DMC-FZ40.
So what's the solution? A 52mm to 55mm step up filter ring? Will the wide angle lens be too close? Then there's the Panasonic DMW-LA2(E) It looks shorter than the LA5, but will there still be a vignetting problem? I am still seeking answers.

I have a Kodak camera with a lens adapter that has 55 mm threads. How do I attach the Meade 64t-adapter to it?

Try a photo shop to see if you can get a T-adaptor to fit your camera (this is for SLR cameras without lens attached - the telescope becomes the lens)

But if you mean the 55mm filter threads, ie with the lens still on the camera, then you have the wrong thing. You need instead a contraption that holds the camera in position to take photos through the eyeepiece of the telescope (ie both telescope eyepiece and camera lens remain in place). With non-SLR cameras, that is the way to do it.

FZ18 Lens Cap error message with telephoto converter

I have the same camera, and had the same problem. Make sure the camera is switched off. Then take 2 hard pieces of plastic with sharp ends. Carefully try & jam the outer ring with one, and try turning the converter with the other. I used a mini screwdriver, and left some marks on my camera. Thats why I recomend using plastic of some kind.
When you use the converter, switch off the battery saver in the camera. That way the converter won't jam again, as the camera won't switch off automatically. There is also a programme in the menu that is used for converters and external lenses. It also prevents the lens from retracting completely.
Hope I have helped you.
