Question about Miele Novotronic Premier 500 Front Load Washer
Miele Premier Novo Washing Machine:
When I turn my washing machine on, water pours straight out of it. Investigating a little bit I have found that it comes out of the little tap that is next to the fiter.
I have opened up the filter and cleared out the small amount of gunge, and have cleaned the rather dirty detergent drawer, but whatever you do water seems to pour straight out of the machine.
I think it is possible that there may be some sort of blockage into the drum, (perhaps from fabric conditioner building up or something) or that some valve isn't doing the right thing.
Does anyone have any idea what I should do. There is a bit in the manual that says that you need to pour 2 litres of water into the machine to re-enable a ball valve after removing the filter. However, this two litres just pours out of the little tap.
Any pointers or siggestions would be very greatfully received.
One possibility is a problem I had today. Water was pouring out underneath the machine as it was starting the fill cycle. (i.e. pulling water in from the mains to fill the drum)
I thought it might be coming out if the manual drain as the water was pooling at the front left of the machine.
However, when I opened up the machine it turned out that the water was leaking at the point it enters the drum. After the washing powder drawer, water goes down a concertinaed hose into a light grey U-bend which fits into a grommet sited in an aperture in the cast iron frame that supports the drum (suspended by springs).
The U-bend unit had simply come loose (though you wouldn't notice this at first glance) and required only for it to be firmly pushed back into the grommet (it goes in further than you think at first).
I've run two full loads leak-free since my fix, but obviously I now feel I need to keep an eye on it in case it comes loose again - it's 14 yrs old after all. Better than buying a new one though I guess.

The lower left panel is a filter that should be cleaned out regularly - the filter is also connected to the drain pump which rids the washer of the water. When you clean the filter out - make sure you have a bowl or Tupperware handy that holds about 2 quarts - slowly remove the filter and the water will drain into the bowl. Clean out any debris and reassemble. If the filter is not seating properly in its seat - water will leak from the small hose - the filter is what blocks the water from coming out of the hose.

I have the exact issue the original poster has had. Water coming out of the overflow pipe situated at the left hand foot of the front panel.
However, the two comments suggested as a possible symptom and solution don't appear to be resolve the issue.
Can anyone else offer a suggestion?
If I succeed, I shall post my solution here. Thank you for your assistance in advance.
