go to the start menu and select my computer. then youll see a menu with options on the left side. select my network places. then on the left side youll see view network connections click it. then youll see your local connection if its not enabled right click it and enable it or repair the connection
On the motherboard,does the battery,that looks like a large capacitor.Have a serial number on it that can be matched to Compaqs operations/repair manual(s).?
If it does not have internal wireless then you need a PCMCIA wireless card, these can be picked up at most electronic stores such as BestBuy. Installation is very simple, just plug it in to the long rectangular port on the side of your laptop and install the drivers that come on the disc.
The easy way is to open up the laptop and remove the smal batery from inside for about 15 minute and put it back, the hard way is to dowload KILLCMOS from internet put it on a flopy disk and insert the flopy disk if you have one in your laptop and falow the prompter
Seems to be self-explanatory... The card is either not inserted properly, defective, or not compatible. Check that it is inserted completely and locked or screwed in the down position.
