Optorite dd1203 DVD

This thing will not read DVD's. It used to. It will, however, read CD's. Have uninstalled, reinstalled...tried everything I can think of. Any suggestions?

If you have constantly used the drive for at least a year now, using DVDs, then try using first the lens cleaner. But you sure are starting to experience laser weakness, sooner it wil not read even CDs.

Sony dvd dru-190a not able to read dvd's but reading cd's. Please help.

It sounds like the laser on your drive is gone. But there are a couple of things you can try first before buying a new one.

Uninstall the driver for it in Device Manager and let windows reinstall it automatically on reboot.
or use DriverEasy to install it > download here .
Uninstall and reinstall whatever burning software you use.

Take a look at this thread. Some of the tips there might apply to you.

The drive I had trouble with back when I posted in July finally died a couple of weeks ago. CD's worked fine, just like you. All my good settings with Auto Run, etc, were still there. So I bought a new drive and I'm back in business.

Your operating system may have missed the driver needed to make the cd run properly. You better re-install or repair your operating system.

Burning dvd image using Roxio disc copier

burning dvd images using roxio really does wonders. however, when you trying burning it to your physical dvdrom, it fails. this may be due to firmware bugs or needs some fixes. have it updated to the lastest firmware update and regularly clean your vdvroms lens with a cleaning kit.

so how is it now?
