You might want to try turning off any firewalls before you open the Logitech program.

Put in new batteries safe mode appeared cannot use remote

Hi. Safe mode is just the remote protecting itself from either a power surge or corrupt firmware. All you need to do to get the remote out of safe mode, is update the firmware.
1. Launch the Harmony software and log in to your account. 2. Connect your remote to the computer. 3. Click on the downloads link at the top of the page. 4. Click firmware. 5. Once the firmware is done updating, update the configuration by clicking "Update Remote."
Hope this helps

My remote no longer works

Hi. If the software is saying that the update may not be intended for your remote, then all you need to do is a connectivity check. To do this:

1. Click on the "Remote Settings" tab.
2. Click "Manage Remotes."
3. Connect the remote to your computer.
4. Click "Replace Remote"
5. Update the remote.

LCD screen lights but does not display words. Remote functions work if I know which buttons to push

Hi. usually this is a hardware issue, but sometimes you can get the screen fixed by updating the firmware.

1. Log in to the software
2. Click 'Downloads' at the top
3. Click 'Firmware'
4. Update the remote.

If that doesnt work then you may need to have it replaced if you are still under warranty.

Hope that helps :)

The remote won't show signs of life even after changing the batteries twice

Hi. I would suggest trying the following steps:

1. Remove the battery, press and hold the 'OFF' button, and re-insert the battery. The screen will display 'Safe Mode!', or the 'Activities' button will be lit.
2. Connect your remote to the computer.

3. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.

4. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware".

5. The remote will go through the firmware update.

6. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote.

If that doesnt fix it, or the firmware update fails or you cant boot the remote into safe mode then it's probably a hardware issue. If you are still in warranty you can call Logitech to get it replaced. :)

Hi! You should try to update the firmware in safe mode:

If it does not go into safe mode, or the firware update will not complete then it's probably a hardware issue. If you're in warranty you can call Logitech for a replacement.

Having trouble updating my 890 and extender. Got the extender to update once by putting it in safe mode, but then the 890 hung at 3%. So cancelled and now the extender won't update and gets hung at 3%. ...

This is most likely a problem with a firewall on your computer blocking the communications. There are a couple of things you will have to ensure for the connectivity to be successful.

1. You are not connected to the internet via a router

2. You are not on a wireless network

3. Any firewalls on your computer are disabled

4. Your USB cable and port are good, and the remote is not connected to a USB hub but right into the compter.

Now, you can try the following:

1. Uninstall the software

2. Download it again at http://logitech.com/myharmony

3. Install

4. In your computer's add/remove programs, uninstall the Logitech Desktop Messenger

5. Take out the battery, press and hold the "OFF" button, and re-insert it. The remote will display "Safe Mode"

6. Connect your remote and log in to your account

7. Click "Downloads" at the top and select "Firmware". The firmware on the remote will update.

8. Click "Replace Remote" to conduct a connectivity check.

9. Update the remote.

That should get the remote working. :)

Volume changes when other buttons are pressed. Randomly the remote drastically changes the volume on the receiver when you press another button.

Hi. Were you able to get this remote working ? I suggest you try a firmware update, since you didnt mention that you had tried that. I find that usually solves weird problems like this one. You can do that by going through the following steps:

1. Connect your remote to the computer.

2. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.

3. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware"

4. The remote will go through the firmware update.

5. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote

Hope that helps :)

I had the same issue. If you are using Vista it won't work at all. You can still setup your remote with the program but just unable to update it. Logitech is blaming your internet connection method to take heat of their failure of a program.
