Question about Sony Ericsson Z550i Cellular Phone

Z550i-mobile phone Dear Sir, I have purchased the above mobile phone and is still under warranty, suddenly it went down( recharging was not taking place). I approached authorised outlet(NUMERIC COMMUNICATION SERVICE-MALLESHWARAM, BANGALORE,KARNATAKA, INDIA.) The problem they highlighted was liquid damage as some corrsion was observed near the contact strips and today(05/04/2008) when i called them they quoted that the board is under problem and entire board needs to replaced and is almost 80% cost of the phone. One thing what i could say is the phone was handled carefully and was not in contact with any of the liquid.I was a nokia customer and had a set 6010 which by accident fell in a bucket of water and i had removed the battery removed the water by air and replaced the battery and it started working fine. Can really sony erricson has such potential and i am really disappointed by the problems after investing so much money and could not even last long at least uptil the warranty period.One more thing what i would like to quote is while i was sitting in the service station i saw so many people with different kind of problems and is not at all user friendly i think u r marketing the phone which is suitable for european countries and not for india. I am experiencing a similar situation with HTC.
I opine that the mobile manufacturers have brought about a convenient loophole for getting out of thier warranty obligations. It is the LDI - Liquid Damage Indicator. A search on the net reveals that it is not a reliable indicator of liquid damage. All mobile customers should combine and boycott this LDI and ensure that "NO PURCHASE under LDI"

I think you should take your Phone to an outside outlet as these Sony People would have told you about the Termination of the Warranty of your Phone. Now, if you want to get it corrected, better contact any outside-people, but ensure that the Person is expert-enough to deal with your Phone. As far as the Service is concerned, NOKIA IS EXCELLENT. A brother of mine faced the same problem (Sony Ericsson K530i) , his phone got in touch with water and the Navigation Keys stopped working. On the Service Point he was told about the Termination of Warranty and he took it to an expert outside. He got his phone repaired at a price much lower than that told at the Service Point.

So, better take it to somewhere else, BUT TO AN EXPERT ONLY, NOT TO A NOVICE.

In future, don't go for any Sony Ericsson phones.

Nokia really DESERVES the success that it has.

Iam using sonny ericsson Z550i it has fallen down so it is not charging even it gets charged also i can here voice from one way only either my voice others can listen or some times i can here others voice...

1. Sorry due to the shock, your mobile hardware has damaged!

2. Contact the authorised Sony Ericsson service center for repair / replacement!

3. If your mobile is still under warranty, you can negotiate with the dealer for replacement!
