It's possible the circuitboard inside is broken.

I think your best option would be: external harddrive cases are available on ebay, electronic depart. store, etc...

Open the case up in that one and transfer the harddrive inside to another case. Some cases have visible screws and are easy to get into.

If you go this route, I can walk you thru how to do it, if you get stuck.

Circuitboards are not made by hand anymore and have really tiny components, so they are harder to troubleshoot.

You will not lose any data going this route.

If one container has a capacity of 6000 gallons, compute for the radius if its height measures 5.50 yard.

Ha ha ha... this is for your High School class? V = 6000 gal * (1 ft^3 / 7.481 gal) = 802 ft^3..... h = 5.5 yd * (3 ft / 1 yd) = 16.5 ft..... Assuming a cylinder, V = pi * r^2 * h... r = (V / pi h)^0.5 = 15.5 ft * (1 yd / 3 ft) = 5.16 yd

Hi'' so sorry for you , yes hard disk are so delicate when it fall , a fragile hardware even with just a little bang on tables or to a hard things the next is it would be damage , so here is another way to check on how to see back your files on the 500gb HHD you dropped,i hope this can help you, Open and connect to an unplug pc, if your 500gb HDD is a sata connection use the sata wire to connect hard disk directly to a PC mother board , insert the sata wire to a Sata port and put a supply on the disk , but be sure your disk is placed on top of box or books just to make sure it would not make any short circuits and then start power on, this is very risky work ,a professional technician is recommended to work it out .

My Dell Latitude E6400 do not detect the Hitachi XL 1000 external disc

Several things could be happening here:
1. your electronic controller in the hard case has failed.
2. you didn't properly disconnect the external hard drive in Windows > with the
"Safely Remove Hard ware and eject Media" in the task bar.
3. if you have a power supply to the USB drive it may have a damaged power connector or not supply proper power to the device.
4. the drive may not be supported by the motherboard for your PC.
5. check the user manual for you PC to see if it is compatible with your device.

Hard drive

Make sure your jumpers on your hard drive are properly set. Also, test another cable to rule out that your IDE cable hasn't faulted. You can also go into your bios settings on startup and check to make your hard drive is detected, if not run the auto detection and see if it is seen then.
