when I push the camera button, it displays the message"multi-media error" on the screen. Tried everything to fix it. I have only had this phone for 6 days. The outside light will flash (for the camera) by itself and the inside back light will go out. Any suggestions?

Alot of times this means that the flex ribbon (cable) inside your phone is shot. When this happens you will get that error and also this is the cause of the flip (upside down) sceen,

This has happened allot. you must do a Master reset on the i880 to fix this. This happens when you get a animation text sometimes.

How are you connecting the camera? Is it a cable that came with the camera? Can you put the media card in a multi-reader and DL the pics?

When camera turn , on screen -turn off and on again

Hi,
Error: TURN THE POWER OFF AND ON AGAIN is displayed on the LCD screen when the Lens Mechanism is stuck or when affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the error message, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.
Performing a manual power reset
Turn off the camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
Reinsert the battery pack.
Turn on the camera.
To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Setting Menu of the Camera to OK. This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.
If the issue persists, service may be required.

Camera shuts off even with new batteries

Hi,

"E18" indicates an error that involves the lens unit or lens cover in your camera .This error appears where the lens is prevented from properly extending or retracting .The error may also be displayed if the lens camera has been subjected to an external shock, or if a foreign substance (i.e. liquid, sand, dirt) enters the camera.Hold the camera so that your fingers do not touch the lens unit when you are shooting. Make sure the camera is off before the camera is placed back in the case. Exercise caution to ensure that the camera does not accidentally power on while the camera is stored inside the case.If you cannot clear the error code by turning the camera off and then on again, or if the error code is displayed frequently, a camera malfunction may have occurred and might require service from canon.Or else try pressing the power button on and held it down while extending the zoom lens. The lens will extend out and the camera will be freed from the error.

Thank you !!

Camera tart Error

I had this same issue! What I did to correct mine was this:

The camera lens is on something like a teeter totter. It has just come dislodged. With a lot of force (more than you would think it could take) place your phone on a table and put your thumb on the area that the flash/lens is, (mine was in the left corner) and press hard until you hear a snap or click. It took me several attempts because I was afraid of breaking my phone. But after I realized it was broke anyway, I pushed REAL hard and it worked!
Good luck!

Card Error

Are you getting this error with the card?

If so, insert the card into the computer. Make sure you get all the files off before you continue. Then go to my computer, right click on the drive, click properties, click the tools tab and click check now. Just do Automatically fix file system errors and click start. This should successfully find errors if present on the card and fix it. You may lose a picture or two if you don't transfer all of them first. Or you could format the card by right clicking on the card drive and clicking format.

If you get the error on the camera without the card in it, turn it on and click mode button twice to get to the picture display (it should be a black screen with "memory error" on top). Then press menu and use the 4-way button to go to the right for Setup. Then use the 4-way button to go down to format to format the camera.

This should fix it.

FOCUS ERROR

I also had this problem. When starting the focus error alert came. Trying to move the focus button also triggered this. When I turned it off, the lens did not pull back. After being close to trowing it away, I used a little bit more force than before and turned the lens manually. I heard a click, and than it worked again. PS: Follow this tip on your own risk.....
