Canon pixma ip1000

Hi, my trusty canon ip 1000 prints OK except for magenta which it will not do at all. I have cleaned, deep cleaned, print head alignment, replaced cartridge all to no avail, and now the black is starting to get patchy. Any suggestions gratefully received

I have exactly the same problem with my Pixma 1000. I haved used succesfully before but in the last 12 months it stayed unused. Yesterday I have tried to print something (of course after some cleaning and maintenance) but the magenta color is absolutely dead.

If anybody has some ideas or excperience, please write.

I have a Pixma IP1000 and just bought a new colored ink last night. Tried printing but magenta is not printing. Help!

Click Start, Printers and Faxes (or Printers and Devices in Windows 7), Right click on your printer (Pixma iP1000), click Properties.

Go to the Maintenance Tab, do a deep cleaning (more than once if it's still printing the missing color). Also do a Bottom Plate Cleaning if it still doesn't work.

Canon Pixma yellow color problem

Either the ink you are using is not going to give the color you want, or you have print heads that are blocked.

MAGENTA NOT PRINTING

The other week I had the black print head clog up, requiring daily nozzle deep cleaning [a normal 'ocassional' maintenance function]. Thought I needed a new Print head, so anything worth a try.
I loaded up an old black cartridge [I load all my own......always have] with Isopropyl Alcohol and ran deep clean on that cartridge a couple of times, then repeat printed [6 times] a page full of the number 8 in about half inch character size, to get the alcohol through the nozzles. then Deep cleaned again 3 times, to wash it through the print head.

I reloaded the normal ink filled cartridge and ran the '8' page again till I got good black output. It has now been working without problem, daily, for over a week. Clearly if it's a Magenta only problem, the cleaning as described above would be a bit different, as the magenta is one of 4 colour cartridges.
My printer does quite a lot of work, and was bought at least a couple of years ago, being used daily for alpha numeric and photo printing work. This was the first difficulty I experienced with it.
Hope the above might help.Ken

Canon Pixma IP5000 wont print cyan or magenta

Think you need to clean the sponge that the ink cartridges sit on in the head tray they are probably blocked with dry ink. You can remove the print head and tray by lifting the lever and gently lifting it out..... go here http://www.inkjethelper.com/
to see how to carefully clean it with compressed air. I had to do this too.

This might seem a dumb answer, but have you removed the PULL tab over the breathing hole. I had a similar problem until I realised my error.
