65" projection toshiba power fuse blows

You have a dangerous situation here---All modern units (Lamps, TV's, everything) Have a polarized power cord---one side of plug the pin is smaller than other side.

The large side goes to the neutral side of the electrical outlet.

One of two things has happened---either a issue with the electrical outlet which is rather rare except in older houses that have the old style electrical outlets (both pins the same size) Or someone has managed to get a cord in backwards--filed down the large lug on the power cord and put it in backwards.

What happens and can be tested is with it backwards you have "potential" 120 volts being fed back into the cable wire itself--

DO NOT KEEP CHANGING THE FUSE--a simple test with a voltmeter set to AC (wall) voltage from a earth ground (water pipe of metal will show 120 volts on the coax.

The touchy part is any set in the house misconnected can feed this back via the coax!

The cable company may be able to help or NOT> an electrician will be able.

The way I would locate this is with the volt meter hooked to the coax I would disconnect the cable feed from each set or unit in the house one at a time until no voltage reading---then you would know which is causing this issue.

Be advised it can spark which can destroy parts in any of the sets or equipment.

Kind of like if you got shocked when you touched the metal on your car.....something bad is happening.

Please if need ANY help comment here and I will assist.

Wont turn on i bought it though craigslist

well this is what you do to check it to see if you bought a blown amp.
wire it into your car and then take a digital volt meter check to see if you have power and ground and remote turn on .

take the red lead and put it on the battery wire at amp and the black lead to the ground then see if you get 12volt to 14.4 use the amps ground for the black test lead if nothing you may have blown fuse or bad ground.

check the remote wire same way as about if you get 12 to 14.4 volt it works if not could be blown from radio or bad ground

checking the ground put the black meter lead on ground wire and the red lead on 12 volt power source if nothing a bad ground.

if your get voltage on the remote wire and battery wire and have good ground then you need to call the seller and get your money back ..

My car amp wont power up any more

Either an external or internal fuse is blown on the amp or the fuse by the battery is blown. If that's not the case your amp is done

The saftey red light keeps coming on

It means that the subwoofer is blown. The red light is called the Protect light. Disconnect the speaker wire from the amp and then turn the amp on and see if the red light goes away. But if as soon as you hook the speaker wires back to the amp and the red light turns on that DEFINATELY means the sub is blown.

Just put an MTX TE1501D amp in my truck but it isnt getting power?

Hello,

First check all the fuses to make sure none of them are blown. If they are that is the cause.

Second, make sure your amp is properly grounded. 9 out of 10 times power problems are caused by not being grounded. Make sure your ground wire is connected to a bare spot in your car meaning it touches metal.

Post back if you need further assistance. Thank you for choosing Fixya!

I got an amp and as soon as i put the fuse in it blows even with the deck of all wiring is correct and i hear a thump from the subs when i put the fuse in, the subs work good on a diff amp

Sounds like the amp is blown. Is it the fuse at the amp that blows? or the one at your battery? disconnect the ground and power wires from the amp and check for continuity between the ground and power on the amp terminals. you should have no continuity, and if you do i would check for a shorted power supply mosfet. try disconnecting all speaker wires, rca's, and remote power and see if it still blows. If it does its a problem in the amp, probably blown mosfets.

Then it's a bad ground. Where did you ground the ground cable to? Is it tight, free of rust, clean, and most importanly, bare metal and free of paint?
