If the remote you purchased is universal and made before the RT2770 a code will not be listed in your code book, but you maybe able to call the universal remote manufacturer or visit there website for an updated list.
Those codes are developed by the universal remote manufactuers. Now if a company builds a remote before a comany builds a machine they will not have the codes to list on their code sheet. You should check the manufacturer of the universal remote for an updated code list
I bought a new universal remote because my RCA Home Theater remote went bad, took a few hours to figure out that I had to use the Audio remote code on the list. I have RCA RCRN06GR Blu-Ray Home Theater. The audio codes that came with my new remote are 41609, 41254, 41390, 41511, 42041. I believe it was 41254 but try them all if it doesnt work.
I cannot find any way of doing this from looking at either manual for the remote or the theater. It is my understanding that RCA makes "smart remotes" that supposedly recognize and control other RCA components, but I have no idea how this works. My suggestion is to read the manuals and maybe find something I didn't or contact RCA Customer Service.
You can try a code seach which many universal remotes will do, this may be called auto search, if you have the manual for the RCA see if it is listed, instead of entering a 3 digit code, you cycle through all codes until the correct one responds to the unit you are trying to program.
