Problem with Pure Digital Flip Video Ultra Camcorder
flip camera problem
on my flip camera, it only says that I have 42 minutes left even though there is nothing on it. it should say i have 60 min left. I've tried putting the videos back on then deleting them from the camera, but it still doesn't work. when i first got them onto the computer it copied them from the folder they were in to imovie, instead of bringing them on to the flipvideo editing place.

I found the solution!
Just put the Flip camera back into any computer on which you deleted
files — then, with the Flip camera still attached, empty your trash
bin.
All of the time comes right back. The only catch is if you have deleted files on many different computers.
At some point, you will have to go back to those computers, insert the
Flip, empty the trash and then you'll get your minutes back.
It's awesome. I am back in love with the Flip.

Have you tried this (from the Flip website help section)?
We suggest trying the following to regain your full record time.
Connect your camcorder to your computer and open your DCIM/100VIDEO folder. This folder contains the videos from your Flip Video camcorder. When your videos are manually renamed within this folder, they are no longer recognized by the Flip Video program. Please ensure that all videos in this folder are carrying their original name. For example, VID#####.AVI where ##### is any number between 00001 and 99998. Then, delete all videos you have previously saved from this folder. Your videos cannot be retrieved once they are deleted, so please make sure you have the videos you wish to keep saved into another folder before doing this.
Also make sure you have deleted any videos that reside outside of the DCIM/100VIDEO folder within your camcorder's root directory.
After you have deleted all videos, disconnect your camcorder and check on your record time. If you have still not regained your full record time, please reconnect your camcorder and empty your "trash can". Then, power your camcorder on and off 8 times.

This solution worked for me immediately! I would really recommend trying this first before doing anything too drastic. All I had to do was save the videos into a file on my computer and then delete them from the DCIM folder and 100VIDEO folder!

this is awsome solution, thank you so much!

If you have a mac you can use disk utility to repair the disk. It frees the orphaned files.
ATTENTION!!!!
If you are on Windows PC:
If you cannot find your Trash Bin or Trash folders on your Flip drive with your computer, you will need to set the root Folder properties of the Flip Drive through Windows Explorer->Tools->View->Show hidden files and folders.
We had deleted files with my sisters Mac and so I had to do this to see it on my Windows machine.
Now I love my Flip.

For everyone who wasn't successful with the "Empty Trash" solution and doesn't want to re-format the Flip memory, this is how I solved the problem of lost record time after two incidents of video file corruption (Flip Mino HD connected to PC with Windows XP):
I made a Windows standard disk check (no special tool) after which Windows had created a hidden folder named"FOUND.000" which contained a file with all the lost clusters of the corrupted videos (to see this folder you have to change your file explorer options to see all files/folders including protected system files). The file had just the size which I had been missing. I deleted the "FOUND.000" folder on the camcorder and now the it shows the full 60 minutes record time again.
I had this same problem. But i found out that what i done was i deleted some videos on the camera using the computer. When i did that, on the camera it didn't give me the time back, even though it they were gone. The camera didn't recognize that the videos were gone because i didn't use the camera to delete them. So i was like aaaaah! Haha so anyway the way i believe i fixed it was to put all videos on the camera in the trash folder, delete it and i got all my time back.
I hope this helps :-).

Just followed the solution posted on March 23 from Smntnl - the Quick Format tip for a PC - worked fantastically. I have an older model flip btw. Thanks!
I just followed the instructions posted on March 23, 2009 by Smntnl. They worked like a charm! Thanks a bunch. Now I finally (after several months of messing with this problem) have access to my full 60 minutes. Great solution!
I had the same problem. It was apparently created when I tried to delete the video files while connected to my Linux operating system. Instead of deleting the files, they were being dumped into a .Trash file on the Flip Video. Therefore, the video files were still taking up space. Once I emptied the .Trash file on the Flip Video, the space was restored on the Flip Video disk.
im still lost. how can i fix it. it says 44 minutes. amd im like what? i make videos..edit them put em on youtube ad delete em. so i have none. what can i do to fix it. i think i ahve 2 videos on my flip pomputer program thingy..lol help me.
