Question about Alpine PKG-RSE2 Car DVD Player

1 Answer

DVD doesn't play

DVD goes through normal procedures and starts to play. However, after varying (15 seconds to 5 minutes) moments the play stops, DVD freezes and screen goes to an orange tint with black vertical lines. Unit will eject and power off only using manual and/or remote. No other keys or functions work. I have a back-seat power source (cigerette lighter) that doesn't work. I recently re-placed a 10A fuse for the front seat power outlet for an ipod. Could it be a fuse? A quick check showed no blown fuses - I think?? Thanks in advance for the help.

Audio will work for a few minutes and goes out

Is the sound what stop working?
If this is the case the problem is in the brain and you will need to do some solder work.
Remove the top cover of the brain and locate 4 surface mount resistors, the number on the resisor are 1R5,you will locate them near to the heatsink, the solder of those resistor are over heating, you just need to resolder them.
I hope this infromation help you to fix your problem.
Yhank you

Pioneer AVIC-D3 Audio Problems

Sounds like a problem with the sound chip in the stereo. Disconnect the rca cables from the subs and check to see if the audio returns. If so. try using a different rca connection in the back. Also i think on them radio's if there is a built in sub drive you need to turn that off if you are using a amp to run the subs.

How to by pass the jensen dvd player prk sw parking brake.

You have to hardwire it to bypass the e-brake. Take the peach-colored wire and ground it to metal inside the dash. Put a toggle switch inline on the wire and mount it somewhere you can reach it. When you get the blue screen when starting a movie, open the switch for 3-5 seconds, then close it again to reapply the ground. Your movie will start up, and you can then drive away with it playing.

Jensen dvd receiver model#vm9311ts

There isn't any code that I know of. Most DVD head units have one extra wire in their wiring harnesses, compared to a standard CD head unit. On mine, it's a peach-colored wire, and is the activation wire for the DVD feature. During the installation, the instructions call for this wire to be tapped into the emergency brake indicator light wire. The reason is this:

The e-brake indicator light is what is called a "ground complete" circuit. That means that the bulb always has power applied, but when you pull the brake, that puts a ground to the wire and completes the circuit, allowing it to illuminate. The head unit sees this ground, and activates the DVD player.

In my Jensen unit, I simply ran this wire to a ground (I used a screw near the fuse box), and I put a switch on the wire, so I could break the ground contact at will. Jensen calls for a procedure to activate DVD playback. In their instructions, they tell you to select DVD from the option menu, and when the "lawyer screen" comes up (the one warning you to park before you watch a movie), you release the e-brake for 3-5 seconds, and then reapply it. To simulate that with the switch I used, I leave the switch closed (activated), and select DVD. Then I flip the switch "off" for 3-5 seconds, and flip it back "on". This tricks the head unit into thinking I put the e-brake off for a few seconds and then put it back on, and the movie will start. Then I can drive away.

Basically, ground the wire that is used for DVD activation, and put a switch inline on it. Then you can break and reapply the ground in whatever manner is required by the manufacturer of your head unit. If there is no off/on sequence with yours, as there is with mine, simply ground the wire to a screw inside the dashboard and you're done.

DVD stop playing after 20 minutes

Hi Liorpe,

It is possible the Laser is not sliding all the way up and down its rails. Lint , dust, screws sometimes get in the way of the lasers travel to completely read a disc. They do start at the center of the disc and read outward. Sounds like if it will do 20 minutes or so and then quit, its not a heat problem so much as your laser has only 20 minutes of dvd play travel on it rails before it gets stuck. Seen it bunch.

Problem: All DVDs would not play in Jensen MVB85A overhead 8.5 DVD player. Error code: "Incorrect Region Code"

FIX:

1. Use the remote to power on DVD player
2. Ensure there are NO DVDs in the drive
3. When you see the DVD logo screen, press 9653 on the remote
4. A hidden menu will open stating the region code. My region code was set to 0 and my I was receiving the error.
5. Press the "OK" button to change the Region Code to "1".

Once the region code was set to 1 all DVDs were playing.

Key words: Jensen Audiovox MVB85 incorrect region code

Dori,

Get a DVD Laser Lens cleaner kit with a disc and fluid. Run the kits per instructions, This may help. If it doesnt your laser may need a mechanical or Electronic adjustment.
