Settings > Text Input Settings > Menu > Clear Input History
Do this and see if it works better. Then turn off Text Prediction.

I do not know if you can fix it on your own. But before taking your phone in, try a few things first. First, try removing your battery and putting it back in to your phone. Second, replace the battery. Third, read the owners manual for proper battery maintenance. Fourth, remove any programs that you have added and the replace them one at a time. Good luck.
