Question about Motorola Mobility Moto Q

1 Answer

Texting issue Recently I have noticed that when texting and I try to hit the "shift" button or the up arrow in the bottom right of the keyboard, it puts "ozfr" in to the message. The second issue I noticed occurred when I was trying to reply to a text and noticed that the keyboard went dimmer than normal. Upon this happening, the "j" and "m" keys no longer worked and the message became nearly impossible to cancel out of. Is this a major problem that is fixable or do I need to send the phone in for a replacement?

SOURCE: texting issue

I do not know if you can fix it on your own. But before taking your phone in, try a few things first. First, try removing your battery and putting it back in to your phone. Second, replace the battery. Third, read the owners manual for proper battery maintenance. Fourth, remove any programs that you have added and the replace them one at a time. Good luck.

How can I bring up @ when texting?

Samsung cell phone: How do I bring up the "@" sign when texting:
On a smartphone you have two options:

1. The @ sign is greyed above the "A" character key, this means all you need to do is hold your the "A" key down until the @ sign appears, let go, and the keyboard will place an @ sign there

2. On the keyboard you will see a number key, select that and you should see an @ sign key. Select the @ sign key to add to your text message

Then click on the wrench,
then click on "language and settings".
select your language then click "keyboard input".
uncheck everything except for "Keyboard"
also click on"Auto-Selection" and turn it off
also click on "word Completion" and turn it off.

Wen txting how do i find where the symbols are i.e _ or %

Hi Keith, if you are texting in portrait mode, the symbols are used by repeatedly pressing "0" or "1" (depedning what symbol you are looking for. If you are texting in landscape mode (full qwerty keyboard) then to access the symbols press the "123 SYM" button on the left of the virtual keyboard. Then use the yellow arrows at opposite sides of the virtual keyboard to browse through all the symbols.

boot_c_03.08.00r_mpap Paul Sager from FixYa has posted a solution for this problem previousley (as below). I have tried the Motorola and Verizon sites (tried the store as well) and the software is not available to flash the phone. Do you know of a site that would still have it available? Or can this question be sent to Paul to further comment on it? All I want to do is recover the phone numbers, notes and calandar from the phone via Activesync or Windows. Paul Sager 2335 Solutions July 14, 2010 I can help you with your Motorola Moto Q. What has happened is that the firmware of your phone has become corrupted. When this happens your phone will no longer finish its boot sequence. This is a very common situation with many phones: in fact, much of what I do here at Fixya is explain how people can fix their MP3 players, GPS and phones by reflashing the firmware. The good news is that if you take your phone into your carrier's store, they can reflash it for you right there (if they have a competent tech handy.) If you are comfortable with computers etc, you can also do it yourself. Your computer will communicate with and fix your phone, even though it doesn't seem to recognize it right now - I've seen this many many times. My only warning for you is that if you are going to flash your phone yourself, you need to get the correct firmware from motorola's site for your carrier. I just downloaded the Verizon firmware as an example - Motorola's website has about ten different carrier firmwares for their MotoQ phone. I hope that helps.
