laptop does not post:(then it is a hardware problem) ·try the following first.check battery is seated correctly and that the power pack is functioning, ·if the battery has gone flat and the power pack is not working ,the laptop will not start. ·Remove any hardware you may have installed prior to you having the problem. ·remove the screw(s) holding the cover plate on the back of the laptop where the ram lives and remove the memory sticks, ·clean the gold edges both sides, with rubbing alcohol or a pencil eraser, and re-insert them, (not an ink eraser as it will do damage) ·swap them around if you have more than one, ·try one at a time. ·if you only have one, borrow one from a friend or try the ram in your friends laptop ,if that's possible, or ·get a friend or family member to download a "memory chip diagnostic's" program such as memcheck 1.70 and boot up of it ,it will check your ram ,if not ·take the ram to your local pc shop and ask them to check it for you (they may do that for you) ·if you can establish that the ram and power pack is ok, and anti virus and recovery /system disc's do not work, ·it may be that the motherboard or the cpu is failing ·Generally a dead hard drive would not stop the laptop from posting. good luck with that and let me know how you get on
please rate my efforts Terry

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact. Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.
There are numerous issues that could cause this but if absolutely nothing happens, no lights, no fans, nothing then check the power supply. Use a simple voltage tester to see if you have any voltage on the connectors going to the hard drive and cd/dvd drives. If not this is a pretty easy and relatively inexpensive fix. It could be many reasons. But worst one could be CPU fan failure. If your CPU fan is not working properly then your computer wont boot but most imp thing is, it could damage your processor coz of overheating.
Another reason may be faulty ram, motheboard problem, hardware failure etc.
so cant say for sure but make sure ur fan is cooling ur processor.
Hope it helps
these are system set up routines, when you first boot up Acer laptops they configure themselves, then reboot about 4 times, to load all the drivers and pre installed software, but if its taking too long (hours) then you need to speak to Acer technical, see below for tel no.s
He is getting the screen with del, enter , f12 so the power supply is fine it could be his bios battery that needs to be reseeated and factory default loaded. If you left it on for a while it could be in a state of sleep/hibernation and if you should it down manually you could have stopped it from resuming and thats why it wont boot now and by reseating the bios battery for a couple minutes could remove the resume from the computers memory and might fix your problem. Hope my answer gets you closer to a solution. Please Help rate me if I helped you out or not I am new but a very good tech.
U HAVE TO ENTER THE SETUP FUNCTION WHEN U FIRST TURN ON THE COMPUTER , PAY ATTENTION TO THE SCREEN AND IT WILL TELL U WHAT KEYS TO HIT IN ORDER TO ACCESS THESE MENUS. CHANGE THE BOOT ORDER TO BOOT FROM THE CD AND THEN PLACE UR DISK IN THE COMPUTER BEFORE EXITING THE SETUP SO WHEN U RESTART THE COMPUTER IT BOOTS FROM THE DISK INSTRUCTION
