Question about Syntax SV266M Motherboard

1 Answer

Pc resets itself

PC self resets and/or turns itself off & then back on in 3 sec.(or in 3 hrs.).
this can happen several times in a row -or- once every few days.
It even does any/all of the above with all IDE cables pulled off the MoBo;
all cables removed from the rear of the PC, ie. NO mouse; NO keybd; NO
lan; NO usb; NO audio (ONLY vga & power cables remain) AND no cards
in slots.
PC {box} resets WITH-ONLY a P/S; MoBo; Ram (tested OK in other PC); Monitor (tested OK on other PC) & Pwr cord.
Bios was cleared after all settings were tried & re-tried - no help !
If bad P/S, then shut-off is understood - BUT why self-powerup (that option
was toggled-off a few times & is off on recheck).
Wiggle & jiggle and smack & tapp of MoBo and all there-now DOES'NT
help -or- hurt.
All fans clean & running; all Temps look OK & shut-off due to Temp was
and still is OFF.
Is intermittent MoBo/CPU/Bios all that's left ?

Motherboard goes for 3 seconds then shots itself

hi i like to help. first off, put back the old processor and reset the motherboard. you''ll find the jumper caps near the battery or you can read the label on the board something like jbat1. put the jumper cap on pins 2 and 3. wait 10 secs to reset the board then put it back to pins 1 and 2. The board should work now. to upgrade your processor i think you have to upgrade the bios first. download it from the manufacturers website. after bios update, replace the procesoor and it should work again.

Even though you got your power supply fixed (i.e. replaced), your motherboard is going straight south, and your problems will soon come back. I had the sane identical problem with this motherboard specifically. The thing to do is go on-line to asite that sells them new, and NOT the manufacturer of the computer itself. I got one for $85.00 and that was the cheapest I found from Once I replaced the motherboard, all problems were gone. Also there are letters after the "D915GAG" that you'll need to ensure you get the identical motherboard. Your power/voltage problem will be fixed also along with the dim LED. Let me know if you have any Q's at

No video, hard drive running but indcator lght not blinking but it is not busted.reset button not functioning

Refresh all the connections to the motherboard and clean the RAM like shown in the image below.025c6b0.jpg
If nothing happens, reset the JCMOS1 (highlighted in the image below).

Shut down the PC first and remove the power cable connected to the power supply. Then change the jumper settings from 1-2 to 2-3 for approx. 10 secs. restoring the jumper to original settings (1-2). Connect the power cable and turn on the PC.
Hope this helps

I have a intel 478 board an don`t know how to connect power poer led

The power led wires ( there are two) go onto the two pins on the top row of the front panel coonetcor block on the board, on the 1st and 2nd pins working from left to right.

The full connector block is wired as follows:

top row: left to right >>
1st& 2nd are Power LED, the 3rd & 4th are the power switch, the 5th is empty.
The bottom row: left to right >>
1st & 2nd are hdd light, the 3rd & 4th are the reset switch, the 5th pin has no connector to the pin
Note: the power led and hdd terminals are to produce a light when the pc is on and busy.If the lights do not show, turn off the pc, turn the connectors round 180deg, reconnect and turn back on again. Job done

Error Boot "Chasis Intruded fatal Error System Halted"

Well it seems like that the cmos battery is down. You need to do the following

Change the CMOS battery,
Enter into bios and change the date and time properly,
Save and exit bios.

Now you should be able start your computer in windows.

Audio deosn't work on mobo

Hi Chris, the problem can be one of two issues. If the sound jack located at the back of the PC did function at the same time as the front case sound jack. Than the problem is the jack it's self is bad. (Back of PC). Someone had to hook up the front mic & sound jack to the motherboard. So disconnecting the front sound & mic may give you rear sound & mic.
Turn to page 2-29 in you're user manual for the Asus M2N-SLI. The pic shown is the default setting for the front case audio & mic. (What you do see are the two jumpers connected). So disconnect any connector & place a jumper over pins 9 & 10, (last two pins at the right of the two rows of pins). Place another jumper over pins 5 & 6.
Pin 1 is the first pin on the left bottom row (MIC2). Pin 2 is the first pin, left edge top row (AGND). Pin 8 is not installed but you still count its spot as if there was a pin. (This is how the board was setup from factory). Once you fix this you should regain sound & mic function at the rear of the PC. To fine tune the audio run the Asus sound effect manager. If you installed this software, (Recommended). If it’s not by you're clock than it’s in control panel.
Link to all for M2N-E SLI

Good Luck!

Hi, does the pc load up to bios and does the pc power up, how did you reset cmos was it by the jumper or by the battery if you done one try the other. If none of that works, you may off blew or damages the power supply unit, you could of also damaged the motherboard which can happen because this same thing happened to me. and the cpu may have been damaged. get back to me with more details of what i said above and are see what i can do for you. Thanks
