Question about Brother IntelliFAX 775 Plain Paper Thermal transfer Fax

When I attempt to fax something, a printout comes out that says it failed due to poor line condition. This never happened before and all the phone lines in my home work fine.

There is no static on any of the lines in my home and line has been plugged into the correct port every time. The troubleshooting section of the manual recommended I change the resolution to fine or s. fine. Neither of those settings has solved my problem. Thanks for helping anyways.

The reason I say there is no static is because I've experienced that problem recently and it was completely resolved by the company. I checked this morning where I sent the fax and it came through. So I concluded that I can send and receive faxes but how do I deal with the annoyance of a printout (that says I have poor line connection) that comes out everytime I send a fax?

Hey you were right about the tx being on. However even after I turned it off the report still printed. I printed a user settings report and it verified that the transmission report was off as well as any other reports. This is becoming very annoying and ink consuming....

Can you recieve faxes okay or isit just when you send ? you should know that your fax machine will not work properly if you get any staic in your phone line, you may want to check by listening to that particular line or you may have it plugged in the wrong socket. the correct one is the one labeled " L " or line and not telephone.

Thank You,

Are you having a problem when sending or recieving or both ?

if both then i would call your phone company and tell them you are having trouble with your fax line, the human ear can not ussually detect static or some problems with the phone line, but the phone company at no charge can tell you if there is a problem with the line and whether it's internal or external.

    Thank You,

you must go into your reports program menu nad select the tx error report to be turned off. that should fix it.

    Thank You,

Do you have DSL internet coming into the location where you are attempting to use the FAX machine? The reason I ask is because, if that is true, you may have a filter to reduce noise and that may be causing problems. I have DSL and whenever I use my FAX machine I have to unplug the filter from the phone wall receptacle and plug the fax line straight into the wall phone receptacle. Here is a photo of what
you may find if you have DSL.

My 575 fax won't send; it keeps printing "poor line condition". Is there something I can do? I am just trying to send a fax like I always do. It makes the noise at first like it does when it transmits,...

If this is happening to only one number you're trying to fax to, then the problem is most likely on their end, not yours. If it is happening with all the numbers you fax to, then I would suggest checking the telephone line hooked to the fax. Look for loose connections, or perhaps a bad cord from the phone outlet. The connection could be good enough to get a dial tone, but not secure enough for the fax to operate. If none of that holds true, I would suggest taking it to the shop and let a technician look it over.

Sometimes my transmission reports say poor line condition att says my line is ok any ideas?

Unless you are paying for a "facsimile" line...the odds are that you are paying for a phone line and using a fax on it. The responsibility of ATT is to provide you with a line which meets phone quality. If you are getting errors due to occassional poor line connections these may not even be due to poor lines in your local area. See about getting your fax set to allow more "error" pecentage to be received before giving errors...probably need a service man for that adjustment tho".

If your fax has a handset listen to the dial tone and make a call if the connection is poor call the phone Co.

Poor fax printout quality

I would say you have a bad drum / toner cartridge.

Stuff you receive with vertical lines is probably the sender's dirty scanner.

"poor line condition'

This is a problem with your voice over ip service. You have to change the setting on your fax machine for example the Baud speed down to 9600, the ECM= off, and the Oversea settings on. Make sure your VoiP ATA is the first thing after your modem or whatever connection you are using for the internet. If you using and old model fax 95% of the time it will not work with VoIP service.
