TV does not respond to Remote

My Zenith E44W46LCD does not respond to the remote after a few clicks. The TV responds during start up and a few clicks (volume, on/off, ratio) after initial use of the remote. I can tell the remote's flickering infrared is working but the TV does not respond. To adjust the volume, ratio and on/off, I have to do it manually.

Any remedies you know of?

Mine is doing the same thing. I've had service repair out and the replaced the infrared receiver and it still does the same thing.

I've got the same problem, got a new remote with no change.

Yes, I have the same exact problem myself, with the same tv, and it is very annoying. I have found no solutions yet

Same problem, it works for a while and then stops. If you leave it on a long time, it starts working again. It's not the remote, I trained a learning remote with this one when I first bought the TV, and have a second universal remote that will also control the TV. All three fail to produce any response on the set.

Same problem! It's obviously something lose inside, cause' when I tap the sides of the tv a few times it starts responding for a while

yes my r40w46 has also stopped responding to the remote. The solution was put forth to resolder the sensor wire to the circuit board. Where would one find the sensor? What does it look like? I just repaired the Blue Convergence problem on this TV. And it works fine, except for the no responce to the remote.

I have the same problem. What do I do to fix it?

And here I thought it was just having too many remotes...

I did find that it works after about 5 minutes. Basically works in different intervals. Very annoying.

Mine started doing the same, around the same time the bulb replacement light went off. After replacing the bulb (the bulb blew out eventually) the problem went away by itself. The aging bulb must have interfered with the IR light of the remote.

Remote will not work tv.

A working TV remote is a security blanket that allows us the peace of mind of knowing that we don't have to get up unless nature calls or the house catches on fire. People are more likely to spend more time and energy to fix their TV remote than to get up and change the channel. There are a number of simple fixes that can ease your mind when your TV remote is not working.
jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); Difficulty: Easy Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • New Batteries
  1. Check the batteries. Make sure the batteries are in correctly and, if they are, replace the batteries. If the batteries are dead or are not in correctly, your remote will not respond and the LED light will not illuminate when a button is pressed. Make sure the TV is plugged in. An unplugged TV will not respond to any remote.
  2. Check the selected input to make sure the remote is set on the TV and not some other device programmed into the remote, such as your DVD player, VCR, or video game console.
  3. Reprogram the sync code. If you are using a universal remote, it may have deprogrammed, leaving the remote and TV out of sync.
  4. Unplug the TV for a few minutes. During a power surge, a TV can become "confused." Unplugging it for a few minutes will give the TV the break it needs to sort everything out and work properly with your remote.
  5. Use another remote on the TV. Program a universal remote to work with the TV. If the TV does not respond, the problem is likely with the TV and not the remote control.

Problem with remotes for our zenith e44w46lcd tv

It could be that the main board or the remote reciever is bad on the TV. The best thing to do at this point is to have a technician verify which one is causing the issue. Otheriwise it would be an expensive gamble to replace both boards. Please take a moment to rate my answer. Thanks..

Optical eye

LOL, optical eye? OK, that’s the problem, there is no such part. However, you did not say if any other buttons were working on your remote, ie ch up and down, input, power on and off, ect. If so, it will not be your remote. If you the volume is not working, check you menu setup, under the audio setup.

If no remote functions are work, you can try the inferred Receiver. Its only about 20.00 to replace and can be found at most part stores. Cheaper if you change only the IR block itself.

E44w46lcd zenith orange light

If you are in the service menu (by holding down "Enter" on the TV and "Mute" on the remote simultaneously for about 5 seconds) - use the right arrow on the remote to reset the lamp time, and then hit the round button on the remote - the one between the arrows that has a "bulls eye" on it. That did it for me.

TV does not respond to the remote control

I had this happen on mine after about 3 years. Luckily it was on extended warranty. At first the techs re-soldered the connections to the board for the IR sensor but the problem was still intermittent. The next time they replaced the mainboard and all is well - just like new.

The problem is inside the TV, caused by a cold soldering on the circuit board where the infrared receiver cables are connected. Needs to be resoldered.

Zenith E44W46LCD 44 in. Rear Projection (Wont Turn on)

I bought an open box unit at Best Buy, it had no remote or manual. Go to http://www.zenithservice.com/, click on owner's manuals, answer the 4 questions using drop down menus and then you can download an owner's manual and save it to your computer/burn it to a CD/print it out. If you choose to print it out, beware, the manual is 60 pages. One of the 4 questions they ask is "Product", choose Projection TV, not LCD TV. The 4th question is "Model Number", mine is E44W46LCD, is guess everyone's here is the same, duh.
For the remote, I looked in the phone book for an authorized Zenith TV repair company. I called them and gave the model number and paid over the phone. I had the remote shipped to my home address. The total including tax and shipping was $50. The remote they sent is a large Zenith mulit-function #6710v00102k. I don't know if that is the remote that would have came with the TV, it worked without having to program it first. It can control TV/VCR/Cable/DVD/Sat. I t has controls for 6 inputs, SAP, mute, Surf, Video, Picture in Picture, Ratio (16:9, 4:3, Zoom, etc), CC, Freeze, Menu, and controls for DVD and VCR (rewind, play, etc). If you can't find a place in your area to get the remote, Email me at gregg@hillscabinet.com and I'll look up where I got mine from. It came from Palm Desert, CA.
I don't know about your TV not coming on, is it plugged in? If it is, that's about all I've got. Gregg
