Re: lexmark printer 8350
Okay for starters, you need to check to see if that fax machine is automatically answering the phone when it rings. you can check to see if it is trying to recieve by call that phone number from another phone and listen if it answers and when it does, does it make a high pitched squelling sound that varies in pitch.
if it does then it should be working ok, if not then you must program your recieve mode to automatically answer.
you can also check to see if it's sending by doing the opposite: put a sheet of paper in the machine to fax and dial your cell phone or other number, when it rings pick it up and listen for the high pitch squeel, if it works then your fax is working properly.

First, make sure that the printer is connected to an active phone line. The best setup would be to connect the printer straight to a wall jack and the other end of the phone cable should be connected to the line port at the back of the printer.
For receiving faxes, check the fax settings > Ringing and Answering. Check if the Auto Answer is enabled and check how many rings the fax will pick up any faxes sent to your number. If you have an answering machine connected to the same line, set the printer to pick up 3 rings higher than your answering machine. If you have a voicemail service, you'll need to get a distinctive ring feature from your phone provider.

Do any of the printers have a print driver installed other than a lexmark print driver? For example, if they have a HP driver installed and that HP Driver has the IP address of the new lexmark printer then that could be the reason it is printing random pages.
Setting Auto Answer to on
1 From the desktop, double-click the Productivity Studio icon.
2 From the Welcome Screen, click Fax History and Settings.
3 From the “I Want To” menu, click Adjust speed dial list and other fax settings.
4 Click the Ringing and Answering tab.
5 From the Auto Answer drop-down list, select On.
6 Click OK to save the setting.
The Auto Answer light on the control panel comes on. When the number of rings you set is detected, the printer
automatically receives the incoming fax.
Hope this fully answers your question. Best of luck.
Are you asking how to set the printer for the number of rings to wait before answering the incoming call?
Please go to the Fax menu on the printer and set the number there. Or use the Lexmark Utility that came on the installation CD.
You cant download from lexmark.com well try searching for drivers on a search engine like google perhaps. I just found this one and this seems to work. Use this link and download the file.
