To check the ink levels ofyour printer
click on the start button of te computer and then click on control panel now go to printers and faxes open it and look for the name of your printer right click on the icon and go to properties
now click on printing preferences and then go to the features tab
in the features tab look for the printer service tab
now go to the estimated ink level tab and see the ink level
I had this issue with my 6988 printer---the solution was to unplug the power cord and then press and hold the power button for 30 seconds---thus draining off the static charge in the printer--- plug power cord back in---good to go.
If you want to print from your laptop to your desktop you can Share your printer on the desktop. Then when you add the printer on your laptop, choose "Networked printers" and as long as you are on the same network, it should show up
