Toshiba WRC 1000 - 2 ports stopped working--help!

By Bouncy - usenet poster

I have a Toshiba WRC 1000 router that I've been using since March
without incident.  I have 4 computers connected to it and am using
cable modem.
The other day, two of the PCs cannot connect to the Internet at all.
I tested each of the LAN cables and found that only LEDs 1 and 2 light
up on the router, in other words, only Ports 1 and 2 seem to be
working!

I contacted Toshiba technical support and apparently, they do not
have technical support staff for hardware other than their laptops.
They told me I need to take it to a licensed Toshiba repair vendor.

I hesitate to take it because I think it may be a configuration
problem
with those ports--although I cannot explain why all of a sudden this
would happen.  I did try to reset the router by unplugging it and
plugging
it back in but that didn't help.  Can anyone out there provide some
information on how to get these ports 3 and 4 up and running again?

Thank you!

Karen

I assume you tried plugging the two PC's that are normally on ports 3
and 4 into ports 1 and 2, just to rule out a problem with those PC's?

Yes, I have done that.  Ports 1 and 2 are
usable from any of the PCs.

Thanks,
Karen

Is there a reset button anywhere on the unit?  It would be a small black
button, or a 1/8 inch (3mm) hole for access.  If it has one, it will
reset the router to factory defaults.
