Question about Refrigerators

2 Answers

There's a loud humming in my danby kegerator after about 25 minutes of being plugged in. Everything was fine for about 2 months. The model number is DKC645BLS. Any ideas would be welcome.

Your symptoms are classic. What you are hearing is the starter relay trying to start a warm/hot compressor by supplying it with an extra jolt of electricity, but because of the faulty compressor (or if you are lucky a faulty relay) that's warm (cool ones start more easily often) is refusing to budge into motion and compress the freon. When it doesn't run, the fridge and freezer don't cool.

Maybe a locked up compressor...is it cooling at all?

check your owner manual but it should have a 5 year sealed system warranty..

Sounds like a faulty temperature probe or faulty temperature control circuit. Some modify their unit with an external temperature controller. It does require knowledge of wiring to perform the modification. There are detailed notes, images, etc provided by psychodad at

Sounds like the fan can be running backwards. I'm not sure of you exact model, but it has to match the air flow of the original unit. Do you remember? Some manufacturers use reversable motors and are some what easy to reverse.

Good luck and hope this helps.
