Question about Insignia IS-DVD1001 DVD Recorder/VCR

Stand Alone VCRs do not play pictures on my Insignia 24" TV

I have tried 3 different VCRs hooked up to my 24" Insignia Color Flat Screen TV and can't get any of the my VHS tapes to play on them. The VCR's all worked well with older TVs and when I tried to return the Insignia TV to Best Buys and tried to explain my delimna they tried to blame me, my VCR's or my sanity. . . anything but their stupid TV. Am I crazy or is the newer Insignia TVs not compatible with VCRs by themselves? I need help with this. I bought the TV in Dec. 2007. Thank you so much

    Ok Geno69:

I run the cable TV cord from the wall straigtht into the VCR to use it as the tuner, while I connect the white/yellow/red cord from the TV to the DVD player. This doesn't work. So I take the cable cord straight from the wall into the TV set; attach one set of red/white/yellow cord set fromt the DVD player to the back of the TV and a second red/white/yellow cord set from the side of the TV to the VCR and that doesn't work either. I don't subscribe to th premium cable stations so I don't need a cable box. That is why I run the cable from the wall directly to either the TV or the VCR. Any ideas why the picture of my VHS are distorted using perfectly good VCRs with the Insignia 24" TV?

My 19 in Insignia is connected to a panasonic vhs/dvd player/recorder The dvd's work perfectly but with my vhs tapes the color and picture are badly distorted. The work perfectly when I hook up an older tv so its not the tapes. Have you any ideas about what can be happening.

Did you try using teh SV cables supplied or the RF cable?
Easier to use the AV Cables. 100% should work. Connect Video OUT of VCR ro VIDEO IN of TV and AUDIO OUT (L) and (R) of VCR to AUDIO IN (L) & (R) of TV. Select AV or VIDEO on TV using TVs remote. Play a Cassette. should work!!

Insignia NS-8PDVD DVD player - shaking picture

Try to run a disc cleaner in it first then if that doesnt help you may have a non repairable condition as ther is no repair places for these things. You can also try a different DVD and see if that makes a difference, a store bought DVD just to confirm things arent working properly..

Hi,

I have few options for you to get the video back on HDMI:
1. Try out changing the video resolution on HDMI set up (select 480p..1080p).
2. Play NTSC disc (to get the 60Hz out from Player). If your are in US.
3. Select the TV system as AUTO/NTSC to get the 60Hz out only on HDMI.
4. if the Deep Color option is available in HDMI set up menu..set it to OFF.

Let me know if you tried all these and still no output.

Your unit has it seems to have developed a video problem. it could be in the video switching IC or the video processor. Its going to need a trained technician, who knows how to use an ocilliscope to find the video problem.. Good Luck
