"No papers on the Chute unit" error occurs when the Hopper empty sensor detects no paper loaded on the Chute unit at the receipt of a Feed command. To recover this, Load documents on the Chute unit. 1. Does the same symptom occur after turning OFF and ON the scanner? Press power button of the scanner for more than 2 seconds to turn it OFF, and after more than 2 seconds elapse, press the power button to turn the scanner ON. 2. Is there a slip of paper left near Hopper empty sensor? Open the ADF and check inside visually. 3. Check the performance of Hopper empty sensor. Conduct Maintenance mode to see if the sensor works properly.
If the error still occurs, confirm that the cable is correctly connected then replace the sensor EM.
U8 is the ADF Set-up Error. This error is displayed when Pick roller unit is locked in the upper position, release(lower) the Pick roller unit to resolve the error. Secondly, if the hopper is over loaded, reduce the document load on the hopper.
This error can be caused by a mechanical problem during the return of the shade. After many attempts, problem was fixed cutting both springs from pressure roll behind reading unit. The amount of spring removed changed from machine to machine. I cut 1 quarter of turn from spring and test the scanner. Procedure was repeated until problem was fixed. In worst scenario 2 turns were cutted. Be aware that cutting these springs will affect the scanned image quality.
If this is a Canon CR-180 or 180II machine then the feed tires need to be replaced. Often if you are using the grey feed tires, the middle one will come loose from the platic hub and cause this problem no matter how much you tighten the tension wheel. The part numbers of the seperatrion roller assembly and the feed tire assembly are as follows.
When you face such errors, please check if the Scanner panel displays-"E-0" and TWAIN displays- “The running system is abnormal. Please confirm the carrier lock has come off.”
The error is Carrier unit drive alarm. After power-on, carrier unit (FB) moves to home position, that is where the carrier unit locates when home position sensor is turned ON. If the home position sensor is not turned ON after the carrier unit has moved pre-defined steps, this error occurs.
Probable causes: Defective sensor, motor, or carrier belt.
Also, please check the following:
1. Is there is any abnormal noise from FB motor when this error occurs? 2. Does any foreign object get inside drive unit or carrier unit? 3. Is CR belt tension loose? Loose belt should be tightened.
