Iam sorry but it seems you may have lost the data. Because the Metal cover has nothing to do with the media being read by the drive. The metal cover is only there to protect the disc from environmental threats. So, my friend i think since it was sitting around with out the Metal sleeve. it may have gotten corrupt.

How to install iomega zip 100 model z100usbs

If youre connecting it to XP or Vista, chances are it will detect and install automatically. The CD may not be necessary. You can try iomega's website for updated drivers if you need them.

Can not formate a zip disk due to losing the file to help format

You can download drivers from IOMEGA's site:
https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_na_en.cfg/php/enduser/cci/subproduct.php?p_prods=1&p_pv=1.1&prod_lvl1=1

The drivers should include software that will allow you to format your Zip disks.

Iomega zip drive Z100ATAPI returns error message: "Insert Disk into drive H:" even though there is a disk in it. It is recognized by the system and Device Manager in Windwos XP says the drive is...

Just because the device manager says the drive is working fine doesn't mean it is. If it won't recognize the ZIP disk, either the disk itself is bad or the zip drive is bad. I would try another zip disk and see if it will read a known good zip disk.
