We have this machine since summer 2006. It happened once when we change the cartridge it could not print at all. After few hours we try printing it worked. Again this happened first right after we change the cartridge it came out with faint printing and suddenly nothing printed at all. We have checked the cartridges it is alright.

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge? Please consider the following: If you are using a refilled (theabsolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges. They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors. If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges Don
I have two Pixma 780's. After getting the "wrong cartridge" error one day when I turned it on, (I knew it was the right cartridge) I tried switching ink tanks, and the print head cartridge several times between the two printers. the problem followed the black print head cartridge, so I am guessing I need a new one. From that experience, I would recomend swithing the print cartridge if you get this error. Does anyone know how to do a reset on this machine? A Canon tech told me once, but I lost the info.
