Infocus LP790 projector suddenly shuts off after 15 minutes of use

Hi, I have an Infocus LP790 which occasionally, and suddenly, will shut completely off after 15 or 20 minutes of being on. The whole projector shuts down - no fans or anything remains on. I restart it and it might happen again after 15 minutes or not and run fine. Any thoughts.

This exact thing happens with my Dell 2300. The lamp indicator says it has 800 hours left.

Projector is overheating. Turn the projector off and let it cool for 30 minutes.
Clean the air filter and check all ventilation holes for blockage.

Hope that helps..........

are the leds on the top lit or blinking? it could be the lamp, the ballast, or the fans. check the lamp. if there are black spots or bulges in the lamp, replace it. if not, make sure the fans are running. if they are, replace the ballast.

if no fans will come on, it's the power supply. if the fans come on but no light, it's the colorwheel or the ballast.

the projector thinks it is overheating. you may need to replace the temp sensor. it located near the lamp plug. also make sure the fans are both moving.

check the infocus website, but chances are, you'll have to send it in to projector doctor.

I have a Infocus in1503. It shuts down after 10 to 30 minutes. When it does shut down there is no lights. In fact the power light goes off as well.

I seemed to have had the exact same problem... I had placed the projector on top of a small book (to raise the unit), however, did not rest the feet of the projection unit on the book and it overheated and turned off, as a result. (The bottom of the unit was making direct contact with the book which caused it to overheat since not any air was passing through between the two)

After letting it cool for a while and powering it up -- it would usually power off completely for about 15 minutes. After a little thinking, I thought it may be the lamp/bulb and waited a couple of years and bought one online that arrived yesterday.

I installed the new lamp/bulb this morning and it did the same thing. It powered down about a half hour later. Bummer.

I reset the machine to factory defaults and checked to see if it had the 1.03 firmware... It did

Then went through the settings in the setup area and turned off the 'prevent pic screen saver'... Reset the 'lamp hours'

I doubled checked the lamp/bulb installation... Turned it back on -- same thing -- it shut off after about 15 minutes or so... Then unplugged the unit and turned it over and took out the 4 or 5 chassis screws and loosened and took off the side panels and blew onto the fans and circuit board areas and gently pounded the sides to shake anything that shouldn't be there loose and put it back together.

i powered it back on and now it's been working for about 2 hours and 16 minutes!

good luck!

Infocus LP530 will turn on and work great for 15 minutes then shuts down and the green light turns orange and blinks. The Bulb only has 283 hours on it.

The ambient temperature in the room is to high.
Try lowering the room temperature. If that doesn't work get a small fan and place it near the projector ro provide extra cooling. The projector is running border line on high temperature and just needs a little extra cooling.

power supply problem. if it was overheating, it would go into cooldown mode then standby. there is an issue with the power supply, and it needs replacing. it's about $100 from infocus.
