Hello
If your system is delaying in the shutdown process it may be the required INF files missing in the OS.  If that is so you need to re-install the OS and make sure that you may shutdown the system properly and do not swith off the system directly.

Let me know if your problem is solved and rate me as FIXYA!

Hi
for this problem you need to reinstall the operating system I think shutdown.exe is missing in your system.

Factory reset lenovo g580

Step 1:
There are a variety of reasons you may need to reboot a Lenovo laptop. These can include the installation of a new program, the dreaded blue screen of death or to free up memory that has been hijacked by a program that is now closed. There are three ways to reboot and all are simple to accomplish.

Click on your start menu button on your screen. Click on "Shut Down" or "Turn Off Computer." Click on the drop down box if you are running a version of Windows before XP (such as 2000 or 98). Select the "Restart" option and then click "OK." On XP or later versions, click on "Restart." The laptop will then reboot. Press and hold down the "Alt," "Ctrl" and "Shift" keys simultaneously. This will bring up the Task Manager. Pressing and holding the same keys again will force the computer to shut down. Press the power button to reboot the computer. This feature should be used when the mouse has stopped working and you cannot access the start button. Hold the power button in the "Off" position for approximately 5 seconds. This will force the machine to shut down. Press or slide the button again to reboot the laptop. Use this process when you get the "blue screen of death" or the computer is not responding to either the mouse or the keyboard.

My Wireless Acer Aspire One Notebook is always on. It doesn't want to turn off.

Force shut-down it by holding the power button for a few seconds.

After force shutdown, turn it on again and try to shut it down the normal way again.

Update me what will happen. =)

Only forced shut down works. i can't START menu and goto SHUT DOWN . I get the " Windows is shutting down" but it then locks up forever.

This is a problem with the operating system. If you are running on an older version of windows and have at least 1gb of ram i would recommend an update to windows 7, it is much more stable then past versions.
If the update is not an option you could try cleaning it up to see if anything improves, try CCleaner its a very good cleaning software.

What are the implications of using force quit on a mac 10.6?I want a quick way to shut down my mac?by using force quit does the hard drive shut down properly?

Hi,

Force quit usually shuts down an app that is not responding and not your Mac. Should be no implications on the Mac itself - is the equivalent of using task manager to end a program on Windows.

If your Mac won't shut down, just hold the power button in for about 7 seconds. Should not cause any damage other than you losing any unsaved information.

Hope that helps, pls rate the solution

My comp hang on "windows is now shutting down" screen

Ok,
Try disconnecting the D-Link Wireless modem, maybe some networking log off is making trouble ...
If not, go into safe mode... And try removing some newly installed applications, they could be making a fuss...
Hard shutting down your PC doesn't create this kind of problem, so don't worry about that...
Tell me if you have solved anything
