Re: getting lid off kenmore oasis canyon capacity washer
Okay, here ya go! There are 2) screws attaching 2) brackets to the back of the machine. This holds the lid in place. When attempting to do this bring a friend or family member to help hold the lid. You then slide the front top back slightly. this will allow access to the drum. Now there are several little slots holding the drum top into place, carefully remove these from the teeth holding the lid into place. You can now see down into the sides of the drum where items can easily get caught. Take your time and relax this is not hard to do this task. To re-install simply reverse the directions and tighten the brackets back to the body. I hope this helps. If you need a decent diagram go to www.sears.com, click on parts and enter your model number in the search box. From there you can view diagrams, parts and pricing lists. I hope this helps!!! Good luck!

First, OL/UL stands for "Overload", so in other words, the washer things the tub is too hard to move because it's overloaded and the motor is struggling or the unit is way out of balance causing the washer to struggle. The most common problem is a nut below the inner tub that needs to "float". Floating is when the tub fills up with water to a certain level the inner basket will rise about 1 inch from the center agitator. What this does is disengage the basket from the motor so that the agitator can rotate independently from the basket. If the basket does not float then when it tries to agitate the whole basket will turn back and forth at the same speed as the agitator and this will cause the OL/UL error code.
Thwere is a switch under the lid that will not spin the tub, if the lid is up. This may be bent or broken. Lift lid and shine a flashlight down the slot underneath the protrusion on the lid. you should e a'plank' across the hole. No plank the swithch or the ;Plank" is broken. Most likely the plank, or actuator.needs replaced.
To replace , and or check the actuator, you have to remove the top of the machine. On a Kenmore here are 2 screws at the top back of the washer thaqt hold down 2 metal plates that go up to the back of the control panel. When the screws and plates are removed you can pry up the top of the washer with a stout screwdriver. after removing the top you can un screw the safety inlerlock, that's what I call it, and check for the bent/broken actuator or broken switch. If all looks okay then you need to take an ohm meter and check for continuity through the switch. Place one test lead at each end of the switch, removing and marking the wires on the switch. Press the actuator and you should see less than 5 ohms on the meter, if that is okay, then it gets more involved.
Check the lid switch... sometimes if something heavy or someone sits on the lid, it can tweak it just enough so the lid switch loses contact and will keep the machine from turning on. You can sometimes bend the lid back. Check the lid switch by sticking a credit card between the lid and the switch with the lid closed... does that solve it? let me know.. KEN
its the power button its a common prob use a soldering iron and switch it with the load sinal button this happpens as the washer alallows moisture to get on the board as its not protected it will save u a ton of money and anyone can do it
