The outside door handle on the driver's side no longer works. I recently replaced the casing around the door handle in the inside and I think something came loose on the other end that attaches to the outside handle. Where can I find the assembly instructions so I know how and what to remove to fix it myself?

Remove the other door panel, and use that as your guide

Door handles need replacing. Cannot open door. How do you get the door open?

Neither inside or outside work? then you have to remove the seat to get the panel off. Two bolts in back/bottom of seat to remove, most likely torx. Pull the seat and get it out of the truck or on the other side. You will need the room the get the panel off. Screws to remove the panel are in the slot in the arm rest and at the door handle, then the panel pops off. Once off, reach inside and release the door at the latch. Just a note.... I don't think yours is one of them, But some Fords have screws around the out side of the panel. In that case, you will have to destroy the panel to open the door.

97 Mercury Mountaineer driver side door won't open. Outside handle flops around; inside handle won't open door

Try a slim jim first, down the side of the window. Or AAA or locksmith. If no luck, remove the seat first. Find the screws and bolts around the door handle and arm rest. Most Ford's have screws around the outer side of the panel. I don't believe your's does. The panel lifts or pops off. Once the panel is off, you can reach down and open the door. Just a note. I have done some to where the panel came out in pieces.

Driver side handle replacement

in most vehicles, replacing the handle entails removing the inside of the door to access the mechanisms inside. there usually isn't a way around this. a repair manual can assist with directions on how to go about doing this type of project.

Driver side doors do not open from outside, inside handles operate appropriately. outside handles were pulled with force after recent ice storm. I am guessing a linkage in the door has been broken or...

The repair will require removal of the door panel and adjustment/replacement of the rod that connects the outside handle to the lock mechanism, or replacement of the handle itself.

I have a 99 528i, driver side door won't open from inside or out.

to be honest i would need the car in front of me to diagnose correctly but from the sound of it the mechanism inside the door is worn, the lever that springs open the jaws has worn to the extent that it will not push the two contacts inside the lock open to allow the door pawl to swivel around releasing the door.Only way is too remove the door trim if you can and operate the mechanism with a big screwdriver to open the door then renew the mechanism

Drivers side door will not open from the outside

check your outside door handle to see if it is broken if not adjust the rod to the handle, they are adjustable, make the rod longer,to do this unhook the rod from the door handle and screw the adjuster counter clockwise one turn and try it, if still wont work give it another turn, 2 turns should fix it.

1998 GMC 2500 driver side door won't open from inside

standard problem; must replace the handle on the inside which entails drilling out rivets, etc. Easier to have a mechanic do it and the cost is around 150$... kind of worth it when you try to do it yourself. Let the problem go longer and the handle, itself, just lies there in a retarded fashion. Basically, the inside of the door latch has a piece of plastic that breaks off. Go figure. Build cheap ****; expect bad results.

This should have been made from a higher density material to offset this problem.

Door handle

the inside handle and otside both work the release seperate.
what you need to do is take the door panel off the inside by a couple screws (usually in the arm rest) and several plastic clips
around the perimiter which will pull out when you pry out on the panel. You can do this carefully with a screw driver but the proper
fork tool from parts store will be easier. look inside door at latch
and see if your piece is broke or possibly the rod may have just come out and need to be put back in place. If your handle piece is broke it is easy to replace once your inside the door.
