Question about DISH Network DVR-625 DTV Receiver / 100-Hours Video Recorder

Video Stream Pauses, Audio Stream Continues

I am experiencing an intermittent problem where the video stream freezes on the screen for two to three seconds, while the audio stream continues without interruption. After a short pause, the video stream "catches up" with the audio and the programming continues as if nothing ever happened.

I have only seen this on Set #1, it does not appear to be happening on Set #2.

My original receiver has been replaced, however the problem still exists. According to Dish Network technical support, this is apparently a "software issue" that they are aware of but do not yet have a solution for.

    Dish 622 dvr skips both sound and video. Tried erasing recordings and still happens with 20 hrs of HD space clear. Tried turning off power to reboot, seems better and then starts again. Recording from antenae input seems to be worse. Extreme pixelating even at 95+ signal strength. Could be a second problem not related to above. This is all on HD channel. don't watch much from the second channel.

    I have the 625dvr. It freeze frames. The audio continues but the video freezes for just a second. This happens on TV1 and TV2. I upgraded to the DVR-625 in September of 2008,now it is November 13th. I am on my 4th DVR-625 and am still having a problem. Tech support says it is a known issue and there is nothing that can be done to fix it.I went through the unplug the unit for 1 minute and restore it and all the other fixs they suggested with no fix in sight. This is hopeless. To many calls,to much time spent on the phone with dish. They even sent a Tech and he reconnected all the fittings in an attempt to fix this issue. It still is not working correctly.

They say software issue when they don't have a clue. if you don't have a service plan with dish, get one and have them send out a technician to fix your problem. they'll have to fix it. it may be a bad cable or fitting coming from the dish. p.s. you can always cancel the service plan, after a nominal amount of time, after they fix it

HI, i don't have any tv signal. the light on my sky box is green and my broadband seems fine but the tv it'self is picking up no signal. any ideas?


make sure u are on the same video stream that the Sky Box is using.. (Video 1, Video 2,, HDMI. ,Comp. AUX,) ETC. use ur TV remote , not the Sky Box one.. and find the input button, or Source button and look through the list and select each one till u find the correct stream.

When we use the DVR to record, during playback it skips, freezes and pauses continually. It has already been replace once and the new one does the same thing.


Hello my name is Mike Houston with the DISH Network customer service department. I want to apologize for the issue you have been experiencing and offer my support to help. It seems like there is a possible grounding issue with your satellite which could cause the hard rive to become corrupted and have the issues you have explained. It is very uncommon for multiple receivers to have the same problem without something else causing it.

You must be talking about the 522 DVR. If so then there could be issues with your hard drive or a cableing issue. be sure to connect all sat in connections and if you conitune to have this issue call 1-800-333-3474 for tech support as your issue could take extensive troubleshooting. More than likely your will get a replacement DVR and if you still have the same issue then a tech will need to come out to check cableing, ground and lnb's on your dish.

Most likely your hard drive. You can replace it and not junk the unit.
