Sounds just like my Whirlpool dishwasher. If you have the documentation that came with it look through it for a "reset" method to re-calibrate the dirt sensor in the unit. If you don't have the owners manual try to "Google" an owners manual or a "technicians" manual to find a reset or a re-calibrate procedure. Mine consisted of pressing certain control buttons at the same time, after which the unit ran through a calibration cycle that took about as long as a normal wash, and it has worked great ever since.
since the water drain is on a float be sure there is no blockage of the screen drain area in the bottem of the dishwasher under the lower rack.the make some cleaner rinses to clean out the screen.
I had this issue with a Whirlpool Dishwasher. I could move the water float valve up and down, and the machine would run a cycle before acting up again. I ran a dishwasher cleaner through it (The one from Finish) and they problem went away! I have always ran the Afresh dishwasher cleaner, but I guess it is not as good as Finish! Conclusion, if you can get it to run a cycle, then try using the Finish Dishwasher cleaner, and see if problem disappears.
Wash time is determined by the cycle you select, the incoming water temperature and the installation location. The new machines will heat the water to a predetermined temperature and it takes roughly 1 minute for each degree of rise, If the incoming water is at 120 deg and the wash cycle wants 165 than it will take 45 minutes just for that one cycle to complete, Factor in an outside wall with poor insulation or lower water temperature and it could take even longer. remove kick plate, look inside the tube to see where the element goes thru the tube. there are two plastic nuts, turn off power, disconnect wire terminals, remove nuts, pull old element thru inner tube, relace in reverse order.
hey you..I have a whirlpool dishwasher too that would not stop the wash cycle...it would run for 2-3 hours, and then run thru the whole wash cycle again!
so..I had a whirlpool factory trained repair man come to the home. He ran a diagnostic and it was 100% good, so he called Whirlpool headquarters spoke to them;
said...........every 250 hours the dishwasher will RE-CALIBRATE itself! running for 4-4 1/2 hours straight, in order to re-calibrate itself. I was interupting this by opening the door before it had run the full 4 -41/2 hours of it's self-maintenance program.
Perhaps that your dishwasher is doing too? p.s. always make sure you get a repairman that is factory trained in your specific brand, otherwise you'll waste $$$ money with a repairman who doesn't have access to the corporate tech's and direct access to their parts/inventory.

Raise temperature of your water supply. Open door and press hi-temp srub,then energy saver, then reapeat this within 3 seconds. Close door and hit cancell.
