Question about HP Photosmart 7450 InkJet Printer
I have my printer unplugged from the computer and the following happens
just like previous customer:
Paper feeds past the point where printer would normally begin. Then flashing light changes from green to red and print operation stops.
Printer cartridge appears to be stuck in far right area of
cartridge track. Nothing appears to be preventing cartridge movement, however it appears to be locked into place.
Have installed drivers from HP while is was connected to pc, still does same thing.
Most printers have a photosensor on the head assembly and the assembly (as it moves back and forth) rides on a strip of plastic that is dark with clear spots. That is how the cpu in the printer knows where (left to right) the head asm is located. So, If that strip is broken, or dirty or if the sensor is dirty this can happen. The sensor could also be defective. Try using some canned air to GENTLY blow away any paper residue in that area and then reset the power to the printer. If that doesn't help, then the printer needs serviced.
Hope that helps...
