I've done my share of fixes. The service man told us he was not familiar with Ricoh faxes. He tried lubricating any moving part he could find. What happens is when we put a fresh toner cartridge in and when it starts squealing it starts leaving heavy deposits of toner below the cartridge on the wide black roller. He said it looks like it is overcharging. I pulled it out of service but would like to try and figure out for my own satisfaction.

Re: Ricoh 2050L tech question
If you were a tech then yes it's an easy fix if not then I can try to tell you what it may be: the cleaning blades sometime cause louding squeeling noise and you say it causing all black pages which the cleaning blade is responsible for keeping the drum clean. when you say black do you mean totslly black as in you can't see anything printed over/under the black or solid black without an image. Please advise
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

Look up your model on Google and search for the reset sequence... It is usually a combination of button presses that will cause the machine to acknowledge that there is a new toner cartridge in the machine. Normally a new toner cartridge should trigger this reset automatically but in some cases you may need to do it manually. If you cannot find the information you need on Google then call the tech-support line for your particular printer manufacturer... They should be able to help you for free... Just make sure to tell them that you are using a THIER brand of toner cartridge (otherwise they will simply blame it on the generic nature of the toner cartridge).
You say you have checked the toner and there is "enough inside", I don't know how you can check this and the error suggests that the cartridge needs replacing. Have you tried a new cartridge ? This is the first step.
Is the cartridge you get the error with a Ricoh cartridge or a compatible. If compatible this could be the cause of your error.
Hopefully one of the first four suggestions helped you. If not if you could post more detail as to what kind of noise is the machine making: a grinding noise, a squealing noise, how loud is it. descriptions such as that would be helpful in diagnosing the issue. Without a description of the noise any of those first four posts could be relevant. The easiest thing to try first would of course be a toner cartridge I have experienced them many times making noises especially if they're aftermarket cartridges. Other than that grinding noises are typically fuser related in that machine, with squealing and high pitch noises the description of the noise is very important because it could be a fuse or it could just be dirt in a gear cluster rubbing on a shaft or it could be the laser assembly. Ireally hate to post absolute diagnosis without enough detail especially when it comes to you having to spend more money. Hope this helps.
Before we start first make sure the machine is turn-off for our safety process.
Question: 1. Did you try to change the other toner cartridge?
Possible cause and way to check Toner Change Problem & No more Printing: - Dirty Sensor (check all the sensor) - Dirty Glass (check all the glass) - The cartridge is not properly installed - Full Waste Toner section - The corona wire is dirty or broken (Inside the cartridge) - The transfer Unit is dirty or broken (Inside the cartridge) - Broken gear motor connected into the drum section - If they have developer include in this model try to check it and repalce if empty - Broken Fuser Film - Broken Fuser Lamp - Broken or dirty Cleaning Blade Section - Check if they have also chips include in the cartridge
Check all the possible cause and try to clean or replace the parts if broken.
Your toner cartridge is probably getting low. Toner is actually a powder, and it can get settled during shipments, bringing it home, etc etc.
Take out the black toner and give it a gentle side-to-side shake a few times and pop it back in.
That should help.

Go to the Ricoh site at the following link and under "facsimile", download the Fax 2000L manual, it's virtually identical. I don't know why they don't have the Fax 2050 version, as it is slightly more recent model, but anyway, this should work for you: http://www.ricoh-usa.com/downloads/manuals.asp?tsn=Ricoh-USA
