Check if the correct paper type and size is set in the printer settings. Also check if the paper guides are set to the correct size in the paper tray. Sometimes, the paper sensors will not detect the correct paper if the guides are set to the incorrect size.
hi Anthony, i spent a month trying to figure out a similar problem with an epson 2200. Now, the printers are different but not that much, and, the changes in paper and ink gave me "some" color issues but not as bad as what i was getting. your problem seems very similar. i run a PC so this is similar but not exactly the same. what i found was that a Magenta/ violet cast was due to double profiling. I could verify that i had the correct settings but i was wrong! I print from CS3 into the epson 2200. What i found was there is an error(no one is talking about) in the printer driver. You cannot shut off the color management completely! Assume this scenario, you are printing with CS3 applying your profile in CS3. Make the settings in CS3 as normal, then you are directed to the printer settings. Go to the print driver and make the selections for ICM Color, and select "no color". The KEY is to make sure you do this step LAST , make sure to click on the "apply" button, then "Close". Once you make the selection of "No Color" do NOT click on anything else. If you change screens in the print driver once you select "no color mgmt" the driver CHANGES your settings. ANY settings in the other pages in the print driver cause the driver to apply a printer profile, this effectively "double profiles" your photo print causing the magenta cast. None of this should happen if the driver was created correctly but there it is! It took a long time to test and verify but it is as i stated. Once i got it sorted out my photos are excellent ALL the time. Good luck, worm1855.
His could be because epson print jets plug up. and usualy cost more to repair than to purchase new printer. i had epson and now buy HP because hp when you replace the ink cartridge the spray jets are incorporated into the cartridge the only thing you have to be carefull of is that somel manufactures now put a chip on the cartridges to expire the units so they can sell you another even if you dont use the ink HP included so look for exp. date on new units. look into food warehouses like sams. costco, Bjs etc. they usualy have good prices on printers. sunday paper is also a good place to look.
hi ray, it's chris. i called your cell phone, but figured you might see this. replace the registration clutch. after some research, this seems to be the solution given that should solve the issue in that printer, and it's an independant part from the paper pickup assembly...
Possible hardware failure, unfortunately.
Turn it off. Then unplug it from your computer and unplug it from the wall too.
Plug it directly into a working power source. Then turn it on.
Please make sure that the paper that you are using is included under the printer's paper compatibility list. Make sure that you are selecting the correct paper type on printer settings. Trash and re-install the drivers.
I had the same cr@p of the problem yesterday. The problem was not in
the paper. You have to do 2 simple things, from which one will solve
the problem.
first, download the latest drivers and install them.
And the more important thing, the problem occurred due to incorrect
paper format. Solution is very simple. Open MS word or something
similar, file->print.. and before you print open Properties menu.
There for the Output Size will be selected "Match Page Size". you don't
want that (i don't know why it doesn't work), but the solution is
manually select A4, or whatever your page size is.
