Hello, I am currently having constant problems with my Virgin Media broadband internet connection and hope you may be able to help me. As, until today, I have been connected to the internet via Internet Explorer, but it kept repeatedly freezing several times an hour which drove me crazy!. As a result, I telephoned the VM helpdesk and spoke to 3 different operators who advised me to disconnect my wireless connection and reboot my laptop, and use Mozilla Firefox instead. However, now it is even worse!. Therefore, please could you possibly advise me what to do next as my internet is repeatedly crashing every 2 seconds, and I am getting really frustrated with it now!. Many thanks

Connecting Cisco 851 cable to virgin media super hub Problem

are you using the cable modem as your router? if so then simply hard code your media hub to a static ip address in the same range that the router/modem communicates on. (private address side)

Hi I have a advent 7000 laptop that worked perfectly untill my virgin media broadband went down on friday , I lost all services broadband , tv & phone and it was not restored untill sunday teatime ....

this is nothing to do with virgin media going down, you have malware on your pc! Try downloading and running Spybot from safer-networking and malwarebytes free version from download.com. If they don't work then you need to take it in to your local pc repair guy.

Want to get more speed out o my fiberoptic broadand

Well the best router for your connection type would be WNR2000. Even Virgin media recommend this router for their 20 and 50 Meg connection. I am pretty confident that this router will meet your requirement with this ISP connection.

Hope this helps.

Laptop finding router but no internet connection

If you can connect directly to your virgin Media Broadband and get internet then your laptop and broadband router is fine.

The wireless router appears not to have a DNS entry and you will need to add that manually.

I suggest that you connect directly to the Broadband modem, be sure you can get onto the internet. Once you have confirmed you can get onto the internet you need to get the dns information from your Broadband modem for later.

once connected directly to the broadband modem, click start>run> then type "CMD" then click open. you will get a prompt type the following and record the DNS Server ip addresses.

"ipconfig /all" then hit enter
this will display your ipaddress information but mostly you need the DNS server ip addresses.

once you have recorded them rerun the install, but this time instead of at the end of the install where it shows the Wireless router information you can modify or change it and add the DNS server entries.

Also by default most wireless routers ip address is 192.168.1.1 and you can type that from a internet explorer and change it from there as well. I believe it's no ID or user name and the password is admin.

Good luck

Cannot finish connecting

Hi fozzy211 - Please don't rate this 'til were finished. You've got two things going on. You said it's telling you to check the cables and then you say it's saying the router isn't from Verizon. Is it both? Are the cables hooked up correctly to your knowledge? We can fool Verizon's system. Let me know if you actually have two problems. For now I would only hook up one pc via wired until it's working. I'll await your response. Thanks.

I have a feeling I might be able to find the router setup information if you can tell me the correct answer to the prompts needing answered by this link

Virgin Media Broadband Help

The model number of the Belkin router may be of interest if detailed configuration instructions are required and because there is the a report of an issue with a specific belkin router model on the Virgin Media site that appears to require a firmware update to work well with that particular internet service.

Wireless connection

The first step to try is to reboot both the router and the cable/DSL modem. Turn off your computer, and unplug the router and the modem from the mains. Wait one full minute, then plug the modem back in. Wait until the lights stop blinking (until it indicates a steady connection). Once that is complete, plug the router back in, and wait until it also stops blinking. Once the router and modem are both back on, then turn your computer back on and check to see if you have a connection. If that doesn't work, then take the router out of the picture -- plug a computer directly into the ethernet port on the modem. You should definitely have an Internet connection at that point. If it works, the problem is in the router. If it doesn't, you'll need to call Virgin Media's help desk for assistance.
