These plastic knobs and handle are on the back of the printer

The following 2 links display the removing and installing the main board in a Flash movie format and Requires the Macromedia Flash Player

    1. Turn off the printer power switch.

    2. Disconnect any communication cables.

    3. Turn the plastic knobs on the back of the printer counter-clockwise to free the main board.

    4. Extend the plastic handle and pull it to remove the main board.

    5. Guide the main board in to the guides on the printer and slide it in. To get it in the final bit, press firmly on the indentations on the main board back panel.

    6. Turn the plastic knobs clockwise to keep the main board firmly seated

Yes I know, I copied and pasted the information into the solution.

  • Rick Kasper Apr 04, 2008

The main board, those plastic knobs are on the back close to the middle. They are D shaped, align the flat spots to the edge of the frame and slide the board assembly out, then slide it back in and add some pressure so it snaps back in firmly. Tighten the knobs.

If you go to the Xerox site it takes at east 10 links to get to the page.

  • Rick Kasper Apr 04, 2008

If you want to provide an E-mail address I will copy and past all the info to you.

Xerox 8650mfp system error code 09,038.46

That means the black ink stick in the ink loader is not advancing. Open up the area when the ink sticks are and check in particular the black sticks. One of them is either cracked , twisted in the loader or sticking and not advancing down into the ink loader. If you happened to have loaded an ink stick from the wrong model phaser printer, the difference in shape will not allow it to actuate the sensor at the bottom of the loader.
If you have to remove them I would suggest getting a screw, A drywall type screw is best, and twist it into the ink block and slide it back and out.
99.99 percent of the time reloading the sticks, or removind a cracked/broken one will fix your problem. I have never actually seen a bad ink loader, but it is possible, though very very unlikely.
the third number, the 46 . means the problem is with the black stick..

Xerox Phaser 8500 Error Code: 07,010,43:6209

That is a problem with the movement of the print head. There are 2 main causes of that.
1, On the left side, looking from the front, about 3/4s of the way back on the lower frame there is a 1 inch by 1 inch stainless steel print head block, There can be ink spilled over into it causint the print head not to tilt forward and back properly. That block can be removed and cleaned pretty easily. There is a spring assambly just hooked over it and that needs to come off, and you may need a pair or channel lock pliers if the block is really full of ink. Clean that block and remove as much excess as you can.
2, The Print head wiper blade may be tacked to the print head, This would occur if the machine was powered down improperly or there was a power failure. That would require removing both side covers and the ink loader, Where you insert the ink sticks. Once there you access the print head area, the blade would be between the print head and the drum.
That is the 2 most likely causes of that prpblem

Xerox phaser 8550 error code 09,036.44:27547

this is an ink stick count error. First, use only xerox ink sticks that are intended for your printer. They have a proprietary shape that actuates sensors in the ink loader. Clear any broken or jammed ink sticks in the loader- in the case of the code given, it is magenta that is the problem. Reload the proper inksticks, then run the "clear isc fault" routine from the diagnostics menu. If this does not clear the problem, then you may have a faulty inkstick loader assy. Do not forget to allow the machine to cool for 30 min, or run the shutdown for moving routine before you move or tip the device to work on it. Spilling melted ink can ruin the printhead.
