No, you need to connect via Ethernet cable to set up the router.

The router manual is here

so you can set it up manually

How or where do I enter my code ????

during the set up process, there is a portion that ask for what type of infrastructure that you want to set up and what type of code that you use. You may repeat the installation process using the software cd. and read first everything before proceeding with the next step. Just follow the wizzard carefully.

I forgot my username and password

it would be useful to know the router model in question.
does the router have a factory reset? of so select this to set the loging and password the the factory preset and start again.

doing this will also reset all your settings which will have to be set back or you will have to any setup wizzard etc.

I hope this was useful

if you are using setup wizard software it may be running into spyware/malware or ever a trojan horse virus - clean up your computer first then try the wizard again

I HAVE A LINKSYS WIRELESS-g 2.4 BROADBAND ROUTER, 54MBPS. HOW DO I HOOK IT UP TO A MOTOROLA S85101 CABLE MODEM? I KNOW NEXT TO NOTHING ABOUT COMPUTERS

Your router had a outlet marked Internet. You need a CAT 5 cable to plug into that outlet. Plug the other end into the same kind of hole on your modem. make sure your cable is connected. Turn on or plug in your modem. Count to 30. Plut in your router. Count to 30. Turn on your computer. Wait for it to boot up. Use the wiundows wizzard to setup your connection.

Port forwarding won't allow individual apps

The 2wire HG is an old 2Wire, they've come out with several models since that one. It sounds like the firmware isnt working correctly. You can try resetting it to factory default. If you do that, hold the reset button down for at least 30 seconds. 2wires take a good 2-3 minutes to re-syncronize.

When you have solid green lights, open Internet Explorer and it will say page cant be displayed. Clean out the address bar up top where you normally type www stuff (and make sure its the address bar, not the seach bar so many people use). Type 172.16.0.1 to get into the router. Run the system setup wizzard on the right. When it asks you to put in a password, it means make one up. Then you need to click on run system set up wizzard again. The key code should already be in there and end in F2NV. Click next, set your time zone, click next, put in your userID and password, click next, after the reds dots, you should be online. Now go back in and try to open your ports. If they dont stay open this time, then you need to think about swapping the router out. The newest model is the 2701.

How do I set up D-Link to share printer?

Need to go to Control Panel, System and click on Computer Name tab. Click on the Change button if needed but both computers need to be members of the same workgroup. Then go in control panel to printers. Right click on your printer you wish to share and click on "Sharing". Go through the network setup wizzard. This should help you make a setup disc for your other computer so they are configured the same.
