Hello janavesel

You can connect an external monitor to your laptop to ensure that everything else is OK w/ it. (And to determine if the laptop monitor is actually damaged or broken.)

If you still do not see any display on the external monitor then there are other issues w/ your computer that may or may not include the monitor.

Please, let us know what happens when you use an external monitor and we'll help you to proceed w/ trouble-shooting the problem further.

Please, let us know if this response was helpful for your or, of course, if you have more questions, etc. on this topic.

Thank you
BJ

How do I replace a broken screen in my HP model # G61429WM? thank you.

The HP G61-429WM Notebook PC is one of the HP G60 series of Notebook PC's.

I would like you to download (Free) the Service Manual for the HP G60 series Notebook PC's,

http://www.tim.id.au/blog/tims-laptop-service-manuals/#toc-compaqhp

On this page go down to the line that starts with HP G50, and click on the blue G60.
You won't see anything happening right away after you click.
This is a PDF file which takes time to download.

[Took 24 seconds for me with a medium speed DSL connection. Entire file downloaded, then the first page popped up ]

After the file has fully downloaded you can save it. Save it to your computer so you can burn it off to CD disk, and then delete it from your computer to save Harddrive space. If you are not aware of how to perform this, and wish to, please state in a Comment.

In the Bookmarks menu to the left, click on the + sign to the left of >
Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC HP G60 Notebook PC.

I would like you to view the Display Assembly in an exploded illustration, so that you can see what the hardware components that you are about to deal with.

Scroll down to the heading > Illustrated parts catalog, and then go down to the sub-heading >
Display assembly components.
Left-click right on the sub-heading Display assembly components.

Number 6 points to the WXGA BrightView display panel that you are going to replace.
You can see there are two cables coming off of the bottom of the display panel.
The one on the left is the Display Panel Cable, the one on the right is the Backlight Cable.

The thin flat plastic frame in the front, that surrounds the Display Panel is the Display Bezel. (1)
The top cover that you see when the laptop (Notebook) is closed, is the Display Enclosure. (9)

The small circuit board at the bottom in the Display Assembly, that you will see when the Display Bezel is removed, is the Display Inverter. (4)
The metal brackets on both sides of the Display Panel are Display Panel Brackets. (5) One on each side.

You have to remove the Display Assembly from the laptop, in order to replace the Display Panel.

Now go back to the Bookmarks menu, and scroll down to the heading > Component Replacement Procedures. Scroll down under this heading to > Display assembly, and click on it.

1) ALL power to the laptop must be removed. AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.

2) You absolutely should buy, and wear an ESD wrist strap when working on a laptop computer.
The cost only averages from $3 to $12.
You don't want to Static shock your computer, and have an expensive doorstop, or paperweight.

Connect the alligator clip to a good ground. I connect to the metal frame of an Empty desktop computer case.
You may not have a similar object around. You can substitute. Use a large metal serving dish, or metal knickknack. Set it on the table you're working on.
(If you have a carpet floor under the table, refrain from swinging your feet across it)

Example of an ESD wrist strap,

http://www.directron.com/1160120.html

Work on a table. A bed or directly on a carpet floor are high areas of Static electricity.

3) Removing the Display Assembly:

A) Remove the wireless antenna cables (2 of them) from the WLAN module
(Page 54)
[ Note* The Black wire connects to MAIN terminal on the WLAN module.
The White wire connects to AUX terminal on the WLAN module.
Just in case you forget, or didn't make notes ]

B) Remove the Keyboard
(Page 57)
[Note* Battery Compartment Cover removed, there are 3 Philips head screws down in the compartment, to remove.
The Keyboard has a cable that connects to the motherboard. It connects to the motherboard with a ZIF connector. {Zero Insertion Force}

The ZIF connector is a two piece affair that slides apart, BUT does NOT come apart in two pieces.
On the plastic connector that you see, are two tabs that are slid forward to release the Keyboard cable.
One tab on each side of the connector.

Slid forward towards the LCD screen.
Use your fingernails to perform this.

The Keyboard cable that comes out of the ZIF connector is a Flat Flex cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Flat-Flex-Cable.jpg ]

4) Remove the Keyboard Cover. (Page 59)
The Keyboard Cover is the thin frame that goes around the Keyboard.
The Keyboard Cover also has a flat flex cable, and a ZIF connector.
(The flat flex cable is for the Power On switch {Button}, and the LED lights)

5) Now go back to Page 63, and remove the Display Assembly, then remove the Display Panel from the assembly.

Have any questions regarding this, or need a full step by step, let me know in a Comment.

Just one place to procure the Display Panel. Not advertising for them,

Hello there,
First things firsk friend.
1)Did you ever change your RAMs? if so, take it out and just put one to work.
2) If you do a backup OS system before using your laptop? if not you have to reinstall all, from recovery partition at this point.
3) Use default BIOS settings.

My Laptop gets hanged on inserting a pendrive

this is probably cause of a virus or an anti virus

virus consumes cpu usage so it slows down the laptop

anti virus software scans the pendrive on insertion hence slows down the laptop

the third reason could be that the pendrive is broken

You may need to press a key combo to switch displays. Many times this is Fn + F7 or Fn + (some F key)
You may have other problems with the system that prevent the display from working.

The screen of my laptop has broken and i have plugged a monitor in and would like to get it to display on the monitor and not the laptop

Looks for a button located on your laptop that might resemble a TV or you may have a FN (Function Key) that you would simultaneously press along with a button labeled something like LCD/CRT.
