The heat is normal due to the large output IC's Panasonic uses. You need to get a "Laser Lens Cleaner" one that uses fluid. You can find them at just about any retail store these days for 15-20. Run it thru a couple times and hope that's the magic bullet to fix the issue, otherwise it needs service at a cost of 100-150 on average. If the cleaner does the trick, make it a habbit of cleaning your player every 3mos or 3000 mi. It truly is the best preventative maintanance on any CD/DVD/PC etc.! Hope this helps

Every Button Switches Between Radio and CD

Reset the radio by pressing a sharp object (pin, pen, etc.) into the small reset hole on or behind the face. If it doesn't have one, disconnect the negative cable from the battery for two minutes and reconnect. If you still have this problem, the radio is bad.

are you using an amplifier? if so, it sounds like you are using the blue wire (power antenna remote turn on) instead of the blue/white wire (amplifier remote turn on) to turn your amp on. the power antenna remote wire turns off when you leave tuner mode.

I HAVE PANASONIC CQ-C700U STEREO PLAYS ON ALL

are you running the rest of your speakers off an amp? if so, it sounds like you have the amp remote wire connected to the power antenna wire. on some radios there is an amp remote wire and a power antenna wire. the power antenna wire loses power when not listening to the tuner (radio). usuall there is a solid blue and a blue with white stripe. the blue with a white stripe should be amp turn on.

Sorry, there's no way to repair the CD, if faulty. Try looking for a "reset" a VERY tiny hole somewhere behind the "door", on the face of the radio chassis...Using a paper clip end push into the tiny hole for a few seconds, ignition/radio on...If you can't find a reset...take it to a friendly local car stereo shop and ask them to diagnose the problem ($40).
Good Luck

Hi graz,

If your unit has a SRC button to the right of the CD clot, try holding this down for a few seconds - works on mine!

When you unhooked your deck it still had power going to it, you need to unplug your car battery and plug it back in that should reset the deck and get the error message to go away.
Good luck,

Panasonic CQ-C7103U having faceplate attachment issues.

You can order a new faceplate from Panasonic, if that is the problem. (You may find one on ebay, too?) Carefully check the connection before spending anything, as I wouldn't want to suggest spending on something that isn't broken. If you have electronic skills, check the internal connections from the jack to the internal board and every other connection. Also look for cracks in the board. If found, a light coat of solder can fix that up fairly well, and not cost anything.

Of course, this is all a guess, and I would verify everything yourself before doing anything. Good Luck.
